2025. Feeling super-lucky as I reflect on another year at Breakfast.
It’s such a privilege to meet so many inspiring people - and to work with such a brilliant team.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories with us - like the families we followed to the US as they campaigned for social media reform - and the relatives of Auschwitz victims who joined us for the 80th anniversary commemorations.
And thank YOU - as always - for watching and following.
From our homage to Bargain Hunt to the Guinness World record madness - and a BAFTA win along the way 🤯 What a year!
Wishing you and your families a peaceful, happy and healthy 2026

It is the biggest privilege to do this job. And - looking back through my photo-reel - I can’t quite believe how much we’ve packed into this year…
I know how incredibly lucky I am to work with such brilliant colleagues, to cover extraordinary stories in fascinating places and to meet the most inspiring people.
THANK-YOU for joining us in your millions every day and for making BBC Breakfast the most-watched morning show in the UK (with double the audience of anyone else #justsayin 😜) Every single one of you is a member of the #bbcbreakfast family.
THANK-YOU to the thousands of guests who have chosen our red sofa as the place to share their stories and expertise this year. Thank you for trusting us.
And a personal THANK-YOU to our magnificent editorial, technical and support teams. They work their socks off through the night - to create programmes I’m super-proud to be a part of.
Wishing every one of you a happy and healthy 2025.

Twenty-five years of #Westlife - millions of records sold, billions of streams. They joined us @bbcbreakfast to launch their new album and their mammoth global silver anniversary tour #bbcbreakfast #westlife @westlife
Back in 1980, I wrote to the BBC to say how much I loved Life on Earth on TV. A week later, I received a handwritten letter from David Attenborough (before he was knighted) thanking me for watching. Complete with his home address. Unbelievably generous - and this 10-year-old was blown away.
Twenty years later, I was equally awestruck (dumbstruck!) when I stood behind him in the sandwich queue at BBC Bristol where I was a cub-reporter and he was recording programmes with the BBC Natural History Unit.
And then in 2013, I finally got to interview him for BBC News when he was given the freedom of the City of Bristol. I thanked him for his letter.
What a guy. #davidattenborough #sirdavidattenborough #bbc @bbcbreakfast
A wonderful moment as Sergio Aguiar is presented with a montage of photos to mark his remarkable achievement - completing the world’s six major marathons in memory of his daughter Alice who was killed in the Southport attacks. He was accompanied by his running partner and friend David Stancombe - dad of Elsie. @aliceswonderdance@elsiedotstory@bebeshiveuk@wmmajors@sarahcnews@bbcbreakfast
Look who’s back!
PC Plum and Miss Hoolie return to Balamory after 20 years..
This @cbeebieshq show was such a big deal in our family when the kids were little. Great that it’s returning for a new generation. And with many of the same cast - and tunes! Their enthusiasm was infectious this morning. @namaste_nimmo@andrewagnew1976@bbcbreakfast #bbc #balamory
📣📣CALLING ANYONE CALLED KIRSTY or KIRSTIE or KIRSTI…
It was so lovely to give 11-year-old Kirsty a surprise on #bbcbreakfast
She is raising awareness and funds for children, like her, who have a brain tumour.
And she is trying to find as many other Kirstys as possible..
We linked her up live with the wonderful @kirstiemallsopp
And then hundreds more of our viewers called Kirsty/Kirstie/Kirsti signed up during the day
You can follow her brilliant campaign here: @mynameis.kirsty

And off they head into the sunset…
Carol and her lovely husband Steve leave the BBC Breakfast studios in Media City after her very last programme.
Twenty-eight years of weather forecasts. That’s a lot of rain. But also so so much joy.
Carol has brought warmth into all our lives. No wonder the whole team worked so hard to fill her final programme with memories, tributes and fun.
We send all our love and thanks to Carol and Steve as they throw away the alarm-clock and head for the sun..
