Huge thanks to @jay____jo for designing and helping me launch my website!
It was very happy and grateful to have the opportunity giving a masterclass for the wonderful voice students at @lasierrauniversity with my dear friend @jonathanmamora .
Last Friday was the last day of my three years in San Francisco Opera’s Adler Fellowship. Those three years were not a short time, but when I think about how many wonderful people I’ve met here, how many great colleagues I’ve worked with, and how much I’ve learned and grown through so many incredible artists, it’s hard to believe that only three years have passed.
Looking back, I feel I owe so much to so many people at San Francisco Opera — the musicians, stage managers, costume and hair artists, directors, and every member of the San Francisco Opera family. All of you made my time at SFO so happy, meaningful, and precious. Thank you all — I love every one of you at San Francisco Opera!!
Tomorrow, our Adler Fellow Jongwon Han @jongwon_han will take over the @sfopera Instagram to share a full day in his artistic life.
What to expect: rehearsal preparation, and reflections from the Anne Sofie von Otter masterclass, plus a spotlight on New San Francisco Opera Production, Wagner’s Parsifal, where he sings ‘2nd Knight’.
Join us tomorrow starting around 10am PT!
Third-year Adler Fellow Jongwon Han was the Third Prize winner at the 2022 Operalia, The World Opera Competition. The Korean bass-baritone recently sang Colline and Schaunard in Bohème Out of the Box, Tom in Un Ballo in Maschera and Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, and covered the role of Escamillo in Carmen with San Francisco Opera.
Upcoming engagements include Conte Ceprano in Rigoletto and 2nd Knight in Parsifal with San Francisco Opera, Bonzo in Madama Butterfly with Lyric Opera of Chicago and covering the role of Yamadori in Madama Butterfly with The Metropolitan Opera.
Recent career highlights include Han’s San Francisco Opera debut as Bonzo in Madama Butterfly, a Voice of the Watchmen in Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten and 3rd noble in Lohengrin with San Francisco Opera, as well as debuts with Atlanta Opera as Schaunard in La Bohème, Palm Beach Opera as Bonzo, and Opera Naples as Colline and Sprecher.
Han was a Grand Finalist in the 2021 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the Third Prize Winner and Audience Choice award winner in the 2022 Houston Grand Opera Eleanor McCollum Competition and the Second Prize Winner in the 2024 Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition.
