Ok so the cat is out of the bag….
The time has come for me to hang up the headphones. I’m retiring from the touring life, and for the most part live foh mixing. (Disclaimer lol, I may do a rockstar one off in Sydney, who knows). As with most things, it’s a layered issue and there is no one reason as to why to stop, but perhaps the main reason is I need to concentrate on living a healthier life balance. The lack of sleep, constant travel and lack of consistency takes a toll, from which I no longer bounce back so easily. I must say I was intending to go for another couple of years but an episode of disrespect from some certain tour management people earlier in the year really sapped my drive for tolerating the harsher elements of touring. I’ve been lucky in avoiding that bs for nearly my entire career, but it sucked nonetheless. Fortunately, I was afforded an option to have a happy end to touring life. More on that later. So, 32 years spent travelling Aus and the world, I think my country count is about 48 visited for shows and tours, I’m a very lucky person. Living the pirate life, despite moments of hardship I really can’t complain and am very thankful. Way too many people to thank, impossible even, but here is a list of all the bands I’ve toured with and mixed that have mattered the most to me, in some form of chronological order as my memory best serves me lol.
