It is with heavy hearts that we learned the news of the passing of soprano Khayakazi Madlala.
Last August, during our Song Week in South Africa, we had the privilege of witnessing Khayakazi’s immense talent and her generous spirit.
Together with Golda Schultz, Jonathan Ware and all participants of the Song Week, the Pierre Boulez Saal sends its deepest condolences to her family, her loved ones, and our friends at Cape Town Opera.
Her music and her light will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Khayakazi. 🕊️

Find friends who can help you traverse the difficult things in life, my dears. It makes for more laughter and smiles. 💗This concert was the final stop on our recital tour (also it was probably the moment my body decided it was time to get sick)! But I have NO REGRETS!

🚃 I have had such an amazing time on tour with my partner in musical mischief @jonathanwware . It’s been so special for both of us to share this gorgeous musical feast with audiences in Europe and America. I’m so grateful to all the halls that have had us for a visit.
Singing lieder, melodies and art songs is such a treat for my spirit. We have been filled joy this whole trip! Though the topics were meditative, we still found ways to inject levity into the journey.
