Had the great honor of serving as a producer and musician on the new Miley Cyrus album, SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL // Worked on this music for the entirety of 2024 at The Village Studios & it was easily one of the most unique, productive, & creatively fulfilling experiences of my life. Endless thanks to Shawn Everett for bringing me on to the project & to Miley, Michael, & Maxx for welcoming me so warmly! Couldn’t have done any of it without the engineering dream team of Piece, Ian, & JC. Fam forever. YEARS IS OUT NOW! // In late 2018, I asked @kane_ritchotte to come to the studio & record some drums. I was going thru a bit of a musical crisis & was looking for new ways to write songs. I told Kane to play to any song in his head & not to tell me what song it was (I still don’t know). This is exactly what he played, unedited. I then built the whole instrumental around his fairly unpredictable drum track, which really helped get me out of my head & gave me an really interesting structure to follow. I would drive home from the studio every night & sing/scream gibberish on top of the instrumental track until this melody formed.
