Running a small business in Los Angeles is hard. Keeping a restaurant alive is even harder. That’s why so many beloved LA institutions have disappeared in recent years. Together with Claire Lockhart (@claire_lockhart_loves_movies ), we made a film about the final days of one of them — Off Vine, a landmark for Hollywood locals. The film explores the dedication it takes to sustain independent restaurants and the vital role these spaces play in creating community. Declan, his best bro Sebastian and I went to Westwood to watch Cal Men’s Soccer take on UCLA! We got to watch my cousin’s son, Beau, start in Defense! It was an exciting game and very close. With time running down, Cal broke the zero-zero tie to win in the final minute! So great seeing all the family (Morrison/Davis/LeBlanc Clans) out to support Beau tonight!
The Grab documentary won an Emmy! Happy to have been a part of filming the work of the Emmy winning research team. Congrats to @natethecurious and the tenacious investigative and production team at @revealnews and the brilliant director @gabriela.cowperthwaite who brought this film together over multiple years of research and filming in order to tell this important and timely story.
