A great night spent together with the people I’m proud to call my community and my church family. If you don’t know what that’s like, you’re missing out. We’ve found our home @eriefirstchurch and I’d love for you to see what we’re all about!
When we wrote this song, I always imagined thanksgiving day; the warmth of family coming together and the anticipation and excitement of guests arriving. We really tried to capture that feeling in the words and style of Welcome In.
Thanksgiving day reminds me of congregational worship on Sunday morning. We prepare a special meal and set the table in a decorative way, putting our best table settings out. The whole day is centered around the guest of honor. We do our best to prepare and scurry around all morning to make sure that everything is in its place and ready. But when Jesus walks in and takes His place at the head of the table, all pressure and striving melts away as He takes the lead, and all we can do is sit there in amazement and listen.
I look forward to the day we all sit together at His table, and He hosts the greatest “Thanksgiving” meal of all time. It will be a celebration of His victory over death and of His family finally all home and together forever.
So let’s live with that day in mind.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
