🌩️ This was the storm of a lifetime — rotating skies, burning sunset colors, and the kind of shapeshifting, stacked-plated, meso-goodness appearance you don’t forget. We tracked it through the prairies of New Mexico and were nearly overtaken multiple times. These are the moments I chase for… 💬 Have you ever seen a sky like this? ⚡️ Tag a friend who loves extreme weather 🔁 Save this moment to rewatch 📍 Location: Nara Visa, New Mexico #StormChasing #Supercell #ExtremeWeather #Timelapse #NatureIsMetal #WeatherPhotography #StormOfALifetime #NewMexico #Earthpix

Sometimes we Stormchasers get lucky enough to witness something extraordinarily beautiful and this evening along the NM/TX border was one of those moments for sure. After the sun had set, its light slowly began migrating up the LP Supercell‘s updraft until it seemingly cut the storm in half, with parts of the top glowing in such a beautiful fluorescent red that it was hard to actually capture the whole scene in one single exposure. This is a pano of 5 vertical shots, showing the whole beauty and once a again an example that a seemingly small updraft can create an anvil cloud spanning as far as the eye can see. God dayum I love LP Supercells so much, combine them with a sunset and you‘ll have me drooling out there lol! @nikonusa #sunset #storm #gewitter #stormchasing #txwx #nikon #panorama

There are certain moments you will never forget and watching this spaceship swallow the dusty fields of Northern Texas with its raging hurricane-force inflow winds might just be the most impressive weather-related thing I have ever witnessed. This storm had been in beastmode for many hours, dropping massive hail, insane straight line winds and a couple of tornados but its metamorphosis from a messy scary HP supercell monster into dynamic perfection was something else to truly behold of. Once the dust made way to actually view into the vault of this beast, we were lost for words and simply stunned by the beauty and perfection of what was visibly spinning up right in front of us. This storm was the definition of a mothership, seemingly ready to beam us up into space and it was ready to go on and on for many more hours! I wonder if I‘ll ever witness something like this again! #storm #supercell #ufo #updraft #texas nikon #lightning #dust #stormchaser

The first tornado of many makes co tact with the ground, somewhat enveloped by the rear flank downdraft but still visible as a nice cone under what would become the 2025 Morton, Texas tornadofest. This storm was sitting in some incredibly dynamic air, producing brief spin ups all over the place below its impressive base, before consolidating the vorticity into a monster tornado a while later. #tornado #supercell #stormchaser #texas #wallcloud

The beast of Grady, New Mexico, burns through unlimited energy in the atmosphere, turning the night to day with constant lightning that fills the air with electricity. This storm was a true monster, sitting almost stationary while spinning like a carousel and throwing unimaginable amounts of water and ice into the landscape. #supercell #shelfcloud #stormchasing #stormchaser #timelapse

A nasty UFO-shaped supercell is steering towards peak intensity, latching on to a surface-cold front and taking in all that extra wind-shear to sculpt itself into an incredible looking storm. Witnessing this whole transformation from a grey blob into structural madness unfold was so epic, that I ultimately couldn‘t wait for our next stopping opportunity and had to snap a few shots from the car window. I guess sometimes the action shots look awesome too! #wallcloud #ufo #mothership #supercell #stormchaser

A sculpted supercell crosses from Wyoming into Nebraska into Colorado at the state‘s tri-points, looking awesome and menacing in the process. The open prairies around there are among my favorite landscapes in the Plains - smooth rolling hills and occasional white cliffs, like the ones around Scottsbluff further North, all mostly set in wilderness and with much less farming equipment, plain dirt patches or a bajillion powerlines everywhere. Soon again ⚡️ #shotoniphone #shelfcloud #supercell #ominous #wilderness

Turbulent skies flash up brightly in between spells of absolute darkness, as a line of storms rushes towards us, only illuminated by rather sporadic lightning. The lightning also revealed another thing - vast amounts of dust being pushed outwards by the storms cold outflow. At his point we weren‘t paying too much attention to that, but a few lightning flashes later, we noticed that the wall of dust was about to hit and frantically grabbed our gear, sprinted about 50 meters back to the car and made it inside the moment that dusty hell broke loose. If that specific last lightning flashes didn‘t happen when it did, we surely would have gotten the good old West-Texas sandpaper treatment out there! Imagine how creepy of an experience this was. Darkness, darkness, darkness - one lightning flashes later revealing a wall of dust about to sweep you off your feet and the knowing that the car was not right next to us 😂 #dusty #haboob #storm #lightning #turbulence

A menacing lightning show rages on with the departure of this supercell that had blown up in the wake of a much bigger tornadic predecessor. With colder and very clear air behind this storm, and a rather bright look sitting high in the sky, we could enjoy this show in all its glory for multiple hours, starting around sunset when she first began to explode into the sky, and finishing somewhere just before midnight, simply because we still had a few hours to drive up to Amarillo for the next day‘s setup and didn‘t want to arrive during sunrise lol. Gimme more nights like this one! #storm #lightning #timelapse #stars #nightsky

Lightning flashes illuminate the top of this rapidly rising cumulus cloud, as it transitions into a mighty Catatumbo Lightning event - a very typical side for about 3/4ths of the whole year out in Venezuela‘s Maracaibo Lake - the place with the highest lightning density in the world. I really miss those tropical nights out there, even though we were usually eaten by about a bajillion mosquitos in the process. I guess you win some and you lose some, am I right?! 🦟 ⚡️ #cetetumbo #lightning #stars #nightphotography #venezuela

The night sky is ON FIRE as this powerful supercell ravages through the nightly landscape , fed by seemingly unlimited amounts of energy to burn through. Lightning flashes light up the night multiple times a second are quite rare but with storms of this caliber, they can occur occasionally. an absolute BEAST of a storm and a true dream for a storm chaser and weather photographer like me! #supercell #lightning #nightsky #stormchaser #timelapse

Thinking back to other years, we used to have few but pretty cool events like this spectacular sunset cotton-candy mammatus display along the backside of a somewhat severe line of storms. This year, April has been incredibly quiet weather-wise, with not really anything going on at all. Today the first storms of the year are currently still moving across the Western parts of Germany (I‘m totally out of time at the moment tho 😫) but I guess in May that‘s quite expected. A very late start of the convective season but hopefully not a bad omen for the rest of this year. It seems to me, that Germany has been getting fewer storms every year, but who knows, maybe I‘m way too tornado-alley-spoiled at this point ⚡️😂 a display like this will still always be a dream scene for me, no matter which continent I‘m on! #mammatus #sunset #cottoncandy #gewitter #unwetter
