Gregg, my dear and lovely friend. A brother and one of our family. A fellow traveler. You were always the one to write these for people you knew, or loved, or admired, and I never wanted to write one for you. I thought or rather, hoped you’d outgrown it somehow. I mean, my god, we’re in our fifties, which is ancient for the committed rocker type! So, in a way, you outlived all the ones I can think of. I met Gregg on my first tour ever in ‘95. Portraits played two shows with his band, Delta 72, in Arizona. We stayed friends ever since and met up in SF, NY, and Philly over the 90’s and early 2000’s when we were both at our lowest/highest. Drugs, some jails, late nights, hair and makeup, DJ nights and striped shirts and leather jackets. We hit all the marks. Then I got sober and you did too, here and there. I left a lot of those behind. I had to or I’d be dead, simple as that. You walked the line and I loved you for it, and worried. I moved to LA knowing I’d see you at a meeting at Tropical and we’d hang out. I drove you there and back home, (you never had a car), so many times. I took you to the kind of medical things people in their fifties need to go to. You could let down the character. I asked you to be in our wedding, up front playing the organ, master of musical ceremony, but you didn’t show. I knew, and hoped for better times and they came! Sober again, doing well, playing music, and taking care of your cats, watching old movies during the days, (you liked CSI haha- any of them, but Miami the most). And now here we are. I already miss you my friend. The world is much less without you and I can’t believe it’s real. I drove by your place last night. You weren’t there. You were the best keyboard player I’ve ever seen or heard, unreal and magical. So sweet and so kind, and sometimes not able to put your finger on the truth. I love you all the same. Happy 17th birthday to our boy. Each year we state his age and marvel the fact he’s still sweet. Still is. Seems he’s going to stay that way. He posed early morning with the big, gold balloons, another year. Good man.

Spiritualized last night. This show and ‘97 at Filmore, best I’ve seen them. We almost missed it taking a nap and waking up 15 minutes before we had to run downtown. Put on the simplest outfits we could figure. Ran into our friends @ian_f_svenonius and @sandisideways ✨🕊️

Greece…. Selina just happened to spot on walk back from the beach. “Honeymoon miracle”… couldn’t stay, had to run to the pharmacy to head off honeymoon disaster after we ate some questionable chicken last night. #greece
