It’s been a L O N N N G time since I’ve made work that I’m really proud of.
When
@lin.tyrpien & I met 9 years ago at Arcosanti, AZ., we both shared a curiosity and excitement for learning metal working. Welding became our area of focus for the 6 wk workshop program there at Arco. As the years went on we stayed close friends and always had a dream of collaborating on a project together.
When Lin told me she wanted to open her own art gallery last fall and wanted me to be a part of her first show I couldn’t have been more honored and proud of her.
Lin’s inagural show at her new galley,
@lyle.gallery in NYC featured myself along with 2 other amazing women who focus on metal working.
@michjxh &
@by_jamps . The show couldn’t have been more of a success and just overall fun fun fun!
I really pushed myself so hard to create these 3 new pieces and did so in a very short time frame in a new studio that was not setup to create yet. Marfa is a place of limited resources and it made creating these pieces such a challenge. I could not have gotten through the multiple breakdowns with the support of my loving partner
@malcolmduncanyolo . Thank you for your endless love and support. I could not have done this without you.
Also huge thanks to
@magdalena.tyrpien for being the backbone of
@lyle.gallery and for being such a massive support to
@lin.tyrpien so she could create her dream gallery. Huge thanks to
@hellanico_b for flying these pieces up to NYC for me. You are the BEST! Also massive thanks to my amazing friends
@mayapapayam &
@jahikhalfani for flying all the way from FL to be by my side as well as
@christinebrownnourish for helping me shop for the perfect dress.
I love you all and thanks again! Looking forward to creating new future works in my Marfa studio and more collabs with
@lin.tyrpien &
@lyle.gallery .
