During March we welcomed the Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (O.J.A.I.) to Ormston House for a residency. O.J.A.I., the collaborative practice of Chris Dreier and Gary Farrelly, operates between Brussels and Berlin and engages buildings and infrastructures that are neglected, obscured, or defamed. Such conditions are especially visible in the case of Ireland’s pre-Celtic Tiger era architecture. In Limerick, this research centred on Sarsfield House (1971), a conspicuous Functionalist office building and current headquarters of the Collector-General of the Revenue Commissioners, now facing an uncertain future. This embedded research feeds into O.J.A.I.'s forthcoming exhibition ALT WEST / ALT THIAR at Ormston House in September, including a video portrait of Sarsfield House developed on site with German artist Julia Zinnbauer. Images credits: 1. @julia.zinn.bauer 2. @jointintelligence Image descriptions: 1. Gary Farrelly, Julia Zinnbauer and Chris Dreier pose in front of a large grey building. Sarsfield House is written in blue lettering on the side of the building. There are trees and shrubbery to the left and right of the image. 2. The large grey building of Sarsfield House is situated on the bank of a river. The building is made of grey concrete and has uninterrupted horizontal windows. The river is in the foreground of the image and there are trees and grass to the left.

Bye for now, lovely Limerick City! Thanks to @ormstonhouse for hosting us on our architectonic research residency. Thanks to #SarsfieldHouse for your horizontal lines, and to the relentless brown churn of the River Shannon. We return for the opening of our exhibition Alt-West / Alt-Thiar on 18 September, featuring a collaborative work with @julia.zinn.bauer

Some images from O.J.A.I.’s 10th birthday last month are finally making their way back to us. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for architectural cake and dancing at Cobra Jaune in Brussels on December 6th. Special thanks to our legal advisor @vasilisdamianos2510 for drafting and presenting our long-overdue institutional mortality contracts. Deep appreciation to @axelanderdj and @faded_voyage for keeping everyone dancing and to Pauline and Jeremy for handling the cake logistics. Thanks also to @julia.zinn.bauer and @d0u.kou for the photos, and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, and to those who sent their well wishes from afar.

Starting in late 2024, @co.opt started receiving a series of mysterious postcards. Thick and glossy, with images of tunnels and corporate office blocks. They were sent by the O.J.A.I.— the Office of Joint Intelligence (@jointintelligence ), a “hyperbollic bureaucratic para-intelligence agency [sic]” operating out of Brussels and Berlin. In August, they proposed the idea of a “reciprocal radio transmission” between our low power FM station 89.9 FM KOOPT and their broadcasts on @cashmere_radio in Berlin and Dublin Digital Radio. 📻 Listen in to @cashmere_radio today at 1pm local time to hear @co.opt ’s broadcast, a selection of recordings from KOOPT, CO-OPt Voice, and @longitudes.lbk from the past 5 years. Or drive up and tune in to 89.9 FM KOOPT. It’s accessible by listening within approximately 150 feet of the gallery door.

OUT NOW! 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧/ 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 By Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (O.J.A.I.) Artistic act of self-institution, as both a conceptual and operational approach: a glossary. 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘵 22 𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰 via setmargins.press (@setmargins link in bio) and local bookstores! Self-Institution/Terminology Audit is a collection of profiles and lexicons documenting artistic practices that operate as self-declared institutions. The case studies, currently active in the field, represent a broad range of approaches, including research-based, performance-driven, pragmatic, materially motivated, counter-institutional, esoteric, and absurd facsimiles of institutionhood. Introduced by Chris Dreier and Gary Farrelly (O.J.A.I.), featuring an essay by Gary Farrelly, due diligence text by Andrea Knezović, and a responsorial note by Alicja Melzacka. Broadcast from the Texas High Plains Monday 19 January 20:00 hrs (Brussels / Berlin) 13:00 hrs (Dallas/ Lubbock) The regular @jointintelligence Radio slot on @cashmere_radio (Berlin) is, on this occasion, activated by invited guests @co.opt (Lubbock, Texas). The broadcast was initiated following unilateral O.J.A.I. postal correspondence establishing contact. CO-OPt Research + Projects is an artist-run space located in Lubbock, Texas, founded in 2019. CO-OPt operates as a no-profit community space—a site for potlatch and the exchange of ideas. Programming includes contemporary art exhibitions, the @longitudes.lbk experimental music series, the KOOPt 89.9 FM low-powered radio station installation, and the spoken-art voicemail project CO-OPt Voice. The transmission features a selection of works from the past five years: material aired via KOOPt FM and CO-OPt Voice, alongside live recordings from the Longitudes music series.

2024, The website for O.J.A.I. (Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence) I designed and developed it to extend the duo’s para-bureaucratic universe into a digital space where traces accumulate from one page to the next, registering movement and retaining residue. It echoes O.J.A.I.’s operations: choreographed procedures, infrastructural memories, and speculative administrative rituals. jointintelligence.org #performanceart #bureaucraticfiction #administrativeaesthetics #jointintelligence #digitalspace
