JBPHH in partnership with the University of Hawaii and the City and County of Honolulu was awarded U.S. Department of War’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) funding to conduct the Waianae Readiness Review.
The study will assess the community’s and Installation’s risks and vulnerabilities and identify future funding and actionable resilience projects that preserve the community’s and Navy’s long term sustainment.

This past Friday we said Aloha a hui hou to Chief Master Sergeant Andre McBride after 28 years of dedicated service.
His distinguished career, culminating as the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 647th Security Forces Squadron, reflects great credit upon himself and the USAF.
In this role, he directed operations for 838 Airmen, Sailors, and Civilians, to protect 33 thousand acres, 110 thousand personnel, Three Four-Star Headquarters, Five National Monuments, and $55 Billion in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command War-Fighting Assets.
As he oversaw base defense operations for the Department of War’s Largest Joint Security Forces, His leadership was pivotal in the unit's recognition as the 2024 Outstanding Large Security Forces Unit and in safeguarding our nation's senior leaders and critical assets.

Earlier this morning, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy Defenders assigned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam conducted a morning ruck as part of the opening ceremony National Police Week. Police week honors law enforcement members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In 1962, President Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officer Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as ‘Police Week’. In this week, we honor those law enforcement members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty (including combat operations); with 169 USAF Security Forces, 17 USN Master-at-Arms, 14 OSI Special Agents and 5 NCIS Special Agents.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam personnel simulated an emergency shelter, “safe haven”, to enhance preparations during Hurricane Exercise (HURREX) 2026 at the JBPHH fitness center May 1, 2026.
HURREX 2026 is an eight-day exercise simulating a Category 4 hurricane approaching the Hawaiian Islands, incorporating scenarios for expected landfall, storm surge, destructive winds, and severe flooding.
The exercise is designed to enhance destructive weather preparedness across the entire community, encompassing the region, installations, tenant commands, and military families, while rigorously evaluating their collective ability to prepare for,
respond to, and recover from a major weather event.
