As seen on @cntraveler @cntravellerindia , Ashley and George’s wedding was a heartfelt celebration of love, culture, and heritage, unfolding across two continents. Deeply connected to their Indian and Greek roots, they wanted their family and friends to experience both cultures authentically. In Vancouver, Ashley fulfilled a deeply personal dream by hosting the ceremony on her family’s blueberry farm—a place built by her father, filled with cherished childhood memories, and a vision her late brother had always imagined for her wedding. Their journey continued in Monemvasia, Greece—a hidden gem on the southeastern coast of the Peloponnese—where they exchanged vows in a traditional Greek ceremony. The Peloponnese holds deep significance for George, as it is where his parents were raised and where he spent his childhood summers. Over the years, Ashley experienced this region through George’s eyes, listening to stories of his time with loved ones and visiting the medieval fortress town of Monemvasia, built on a rock in the Mediterranean Sea. When they visited together, Ashley could feel the nostalgia of George’s childhood and she knew this was the perfect place for their wedding. From a chance meeting in New York to a four-day celebration on Bali’s untouched west coast, Jaskaren and Francis created a wedding that was as intentional as it was breathtaking. Set at Soori Bali, their multi-day celebration wove together culture, fashion, food, and nature, reimagining tradition through a contemporary lens. Pooja and Akhil opened their wedding weekend with a Swahili sundowner by the sea, a coastal ritual rooted in connection, gratitude, and community. At the heart of the evening were the Maasai warriors, whose presence grounded the celebration in the land itself. They led the couple into the space and offered blessings through the Adumu, the traditional jumping dance accompanied by powerful chants sung in unison. It was a deeply meaningful moment that honored Kenya’s ancestral heritage and the communities who continue to safeguard its cultural traditions, not as performance, but as lived respect. The setting echoed this intention throughout. Wrapped in Maasai shuka, Swahili textiles, and warm sunset hues, the evening came alive with coastal flavors, East African cocktails, and a soundtrack celebrating Swahili and regional artists. The couple entered to “Holy Ghost” by Omah Lay, the song that played during Akhil’s proposal to Pooja in the Maasai Mara, bringing their story full circle. This sundowner set the tone for the days ahead, joyful, intentional, and deeply rooted in Kenyan Indian identity and Swahili hospitality.
