Thank you @billboard for the love and recognition. Hip-Hop changed my life and I truly wouldn’t know where I’d be without it. The man above knows that my purpose and passion is and always will be to support and help artists, and that’s all I ever cared about. I’m humbled and grateful. Congrats to @__bu , @lutivated , @shahendra , @wiltwallace & @victoriadidthat . I admire and am inspired by y’all more than you know. Thank you to @theronperry , @jmallory , @mxantho , @shahendra and @kimboharris for your continued support and love.

EKSYUS ME! 🇵🇭 KA BA? | EPISODE 20 | Meet John Vincent Salcedo, Music Executive, Vice President at Columbia Records Today I ran into a fellow JV, John Vincent Salcedo (@johnvince ), the rapper turned music executive who holds the title of being the first and only Filipino Vice President at Columbia Records (@columbiarecords ). Immigrating from the Philippines in his early teens, JV started his career as a rapper, leaning into hip-hop to learn English instead of taking ESL classes. After a few years battling in the East Coast as an independent artist, he understood that, while being a musician will always be an artistic outlet for him, his responsibilities to his family back home required him to push further into his industry and be on the other side — behind the scenes as a music executive. And look at that… it paid off! In 2020, JV became the first Filipino Vice President at Columbia Records, also the youngest at the time. He has worked with major artists like Tyler the Creator, Harry Styles, The Kid LAROI, ROSALÍA and Baby Keem. He was included in Forbes’ 30 under 30 list, repeatedly named a Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Player, and became a diamond plaque recipient for his work with Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road (which he named after his mom). Now JV’s mission is to bridge the gap between the great deal of Filipino talent in music and the global recognition and praise that it deserves. JV is the perfect example of a life that is relentlessly in pursuit of their craft, nurtured by family that understood its value, while ensuring those that want to follow suit are also taken care of. Thank you twin for such a truly inspiring afternoon! #PilipinoKaBa #Filipino #FilipinoAmerican #FilipinoMusic #MusicIndustry

I had an idea to flip the Yankee logo and Tiffany & Co. during a team meeting and executed it during a coffee run. @pleasedonotsue.me now live. I’m closing orders on the cap on the 16th of December.

If anything, death teaches us to appreciate life more. We’re doing that from here on out.

First off, much love and peace to ABS-CBN, MYX Global, Asian American Collective and Purveyr for giving me the time of day. Don’t ever let anyone put a ceiling on your greatness. I came to this country not knowing a word of english. Parents working multiple jobs to provide. I obsessed over the American Dream cause I still have family back home that’d kill for the opportunities that most Filipino-Americans have in this country. Find a passion, work hard and remember that you represent more than yourself. Go be great.
