I want you to imagine yourself as this pig, who I named Terry. Terry woke up in an unremarkable building in Iowa and was transferred into an unremarkable truck with dozens of his fellow pigs. They were then driven over 24 hours straight from Iowa (in the middle of the United States) to a slaughterhouse in Los Angeles, all with no food and no water. That's where I met him when I attended a vigil with LA Animal Save. I made eye contact with Terry for 60 seconds before the truck pulled away, entered the slaughterhouse, and Terry was slaughtered to become bacon or ham or pork. 💔
It's too late for Terry, but not for the many pigs and other farm animals who you can prevent from sharing his fate. Do through your food choices but also by sharing stories just like his to humanize these poor, innocent creatures who were simply unlucky enough to be born as the animals we raise and kill just to needlessly consume. 🧡
