Iβm that guy who believes pigs can fly.
Watch me push my body to the limit & break ageing stereotypes. Feel free to hang around. ππβ€οΈ
I recently entered my second ever powerlifting competition and I ended up breaking a squat World Record for my age and weight class. In the same comp I attempted and missed two other World Records, one in the bench, and one in the deadlift, but I am thankful I broke at least one of the records which I hope will be the first of many!
Thanks to everyone for your help and support both on the day, and in the lead up.
Many of you checked in on me before the competition and I truly appreciate all your positivity and encouragement.
Thanks again π

How do I stay fit and strong at 51 years of age?
Point 1: I am consistent with my food choices.
I eat clean simple food consistently. I can eat the same breakfast and lunch daily for months on end. I see food as a fuel source. I still go out and enjoy myself but Mon-Fri I treat food as fuel for my body.
Point 2: I strength train and progressive overload.
I always push myself. I aim to improve and increase the weight I lift set after set. I am not lazy. Note: if you progressive overload you need to maintain good form to avoid injury.
Point 3: I have made training a daily routine.
Training is not a chore or an afterthought. I have made it routine, like having a shower or brushing your teeth.
Point 4: I set regular goals and track them.
Goals could be a specific weight I want to lift, or how I want to improve a body part. Tracking is writing things down, measuring yourself and staying accountable.
Point 5: I created a mindset to always want to improve myself.
I am my biggest critic. Why canβt I push the boundaries and get in the best physical shape possible.
Point 6: I regularly weigh myself and get bloodwork.
I prioritise my internal health. I get 3 blood tests a year and I monitor a panel of biomarkers that are important for ageing and wellbeing.

Tonight I walked into the gym and felt strong! Both shoulders felt good, so I told myself that if I worked up to an easy set on 57.5kg dumbbells, I would have a go at the 65kg dumbbells. The fifth rep was a little wonky, but I got there! My lead up sets were 16kgs, 30kgs, 42kgs, 50kgs, 57.5kgs, then the 65βs! Now that I have hit this mini-goal I believe I am ready to start barbell bench pressing again. I will literally start from the bar (no weights) and build up hopefully over the next 4-5months. As always thanks for watching π€β€οΈ

Tonight I thought I would have some fun and do some touch and go bench press. My plan was to work up to 150kg and if it moved easy bump it up to 160kg. That also moved well so I loaded 170kg and benched it!
I was very happy with how it felt. Unfortunately my left foot slipped as I was driving out of the bottom, but I still managed to finish the press.
Attempting such a heavy load requires me to overcome some mental scaring from when I tore my pec completely off the bone 18 months ago. When I attempt any post surgery PB I do my best to bury the fear of re-tearing my pec.
I am not one to back down from a challenge, and the purpose of me posting my strength journey as a 50+ year old, was to push the boundaries. I am staying true to that.
As always thanks for watching and following my journey.

Today I worked up to a 250kg deadlift and told myself that if it moved fast I would go heavier. The 250kg moved easy, so I decided to load 270kg.
I was happy how this Sumo Deadlift felt.
This is higher than most federation World Records in the M2 75kg Raw class.
Feeling good physically and mentally.
As always thanks you for your support.

I walked into Paddo Performance today I worked up to an easy 240kg deadlift. At this point I knew I had 250kg in me, so I thought I would preserve the energy and jump straight to 260kg. I have wanted to pull this weight so bad! I am stoked with how this weight felt. I truly believe that one day I will pull 280kg in the 75kg body weight class as a Masters lifter. It is a very ambitious goal but one I truly believe is achievable! My technique is always a work in progress and I know what things I need to do to continue to improve.
If done in comp a 260kg deadlift would be a World Record in most Powerlifting Federations across the 50-59 year age range in the 75kg class. This naturally only covers Raw and Classic 3 lift categories.
I hope I can one day do this weight in comp, but I truly believe I am capable of more!
As always thanks for watching. I love training hard and pushing myself, and I genuinely appreciate the positivity I receive from everyone.

My bench today felt good. I worked up to a top set on 155kg which moved well. When things are feeling good I like to push a little harder, so I loaded 160kg. Overall I am happy with how this weight felt. I believe I have more in the tank. I have many things to still improve, however things are feeling good.
If done in comp a 160kg bench press would be a record in most Powerlifting Federations across the 50-59 year age range in the 75kg class. This does not factor Bench Only divisions and only covers Raw and Classic 3 lift divisions.
I hope I can one day do this weight in comp, with a comp pause at 75kg bodyweight.
As always thanks for watching. I love training hard and pushing myself, and I genuinely appreciate all the positivity I receive from everyone.

So 6 days ago I pulled 250kg in comp which was an Australian Record and an unofficial World Record in the M2 75kg Class (WRPF Federation).
Tonight I wanted to better that, so I pulled 255kg!
It surprisingly moved easier than I thought. It was just me, the bar and no one else watching!
I am very happy with this effort as I feel 260kg is well in reach!
As always thanks for watching.

Here are some deadlift pics from the 2026 WRPF NSW State Titles. This was my first competition in the M2 75kg Class and only my third ever powerlifting competition.
Big thanks to @thestudiodoorcreative for the awesome photos.
Also thanks @tellerazz for running such an awesome competition at OneStrength Orange.
@onestrength_
A big thanks to the WRPF Australia @wrpf.australia Federation. Namely all the refs, loaders, comp staff, MC, and all the competitors!
Amazing how supportive everyone was and full of encouragement! ππ€πͺπ§Ώβ€οΈ
Finally a BIG thanks to Jason Stoupas @jason_stoupas for prepping me in the lead up to this comp. Jason is based in Melbourne and owns HUSLA Gym. He has put up with me for last few years and with his guidance and direction I have significantly improved as a powerlifter and he has made me believe that I can become even better! ππ€π§Ώπͺ
As always thanks for your support, I appreciate it.

Tonight I worked up to a paused single on 155kg. I was weighing just under 78kg which is the lightest I have been in a long time.
The weight moved well, but my legs slipped and I lost leg drive when my elbows were around 90 degrees.
As always thanks for watching.

Today I worked up to a top comp style single on 150kg. My bodyweight is slowly dropping as I look to make my way down to 75kg. I am currently sitting at 78.1kg, with 18 days left until I compete again.
The 150kg bench is higher than the current WRPF M2 (50-59 age) World Records in both the Classic and Raw divisions.
As always thanks for watching.

Today I pushed a bit more and managed a 145kg bench press for a double. I am happy with this considering I am dropping bodyweight.
This was 5kg heavier than last week.
Next week my pressing will be comp spec.
As always thanks for watching my strength journey.
