George Crotty has forged his own exciting vocabulary pushing the boundaries of the cello. Drawing on diverse influences within jazz and global music including modal jazz, Indian Raga, and Arabic Maqam, Crotty’s modernist genre-bending is heavily influenced by his hometown of Toronto’s vibrant pluralism.

One highlight of 2025 was helping to get the NY Arabic Chorus (@newyorkarabicchorus ) up and running for its first year. Very proud of all the singers, musicians, partners, and the behind-the-scenes team that includes the @brooklynmaqam team, @abushumays , and especially the fantastic work of @monamiari as artistic director. Open Room!! I am moving and looking for someone to take over my room as part of a very spacious 3-bed 2-bath in Clinton Hill, starting December 1st.
I have been at this apartment for over 15 years(!). Landlord is chill. Location is amazing. On the corner of Clinton Washington C train. First floor with backyard, built in laundry and dishwasher, lots of storage. You can play music at home all the time no problems. Many recordings and rehearsals over the years.
