‘Blockwork’
I’ll be delving into these little square characters this week to carve a standalone carved cube for a very special exhibition in July. The temptation will be resisted to print them in this instance.

‘The Sundancers’ Come on, don’t tell me that in my situation, what with me being in possession of a green sun stamp, a circle stamp and a bunch of line stamps, you wouldn’t have done the same. Thought so. 💚💚🖤🖤
‘Blah Blah Blah’ One of these is off to Australia along with a ‘Kind’ and ‘Love ‘ print tomorrow. This is what I said last year about this woodcut and unfortunately it pretty much still stands. ‘Blah blah blah’ Could somebody find me just one elected or unelected person in power that holds a stance that is not self serving, who speaks for the vulnerable, has any understanding of kindness, honesty, empathy, sympathy, or shows even a drop of good old fashioned humanity, whatever that means anymore. It’s ok, I’ll wait.❤️
‘Green Energy’ As promised a test print for a green ‘Individual Sun’. The last bit of green in the bottom of the pot was used for this so although I’ll list them today, because it looks ace, I need to order some yellow so it might take a few days. Obviously with a test print like this the final one won’t be as patchy and will actually fit onto the paper. Ok who am I kidding, the ones you receive will be every bit as shitty as this, but will definitely be on bigger paper.

I’ve stretched out the last of the ink now so there will be a few ready in a day or so.

I may print tee shirts of just the green sun. Definitely one anyway, for personal use. 👍💚
‘Carmen the Duck Wolf’ Last week I received an order for 5 different prints none of which I had available. The upshot was that I had to do full sessions of printing each one to satisfy the order. ‘Why don’t you just reduce the choice available’ I hear you cry. I tried that and sales went down so I’m back to the mostly welcome chaos of having just about everything available. Not ideal but also not boring. Here is ‘Carmen’s’ short but sweet story from ‘Small Mercies’ that contains 81 prints and tales concocted to take your mind off the big stuff.
‘Carmen The Duck Wolf’ Pretty much the epitome of ‘Small Mercies’, dancing in private. Carmen the Duck Wolf shakes off the stresses of the day while Jessie J asks if Coconut man, moon head and pea are ready! They are.
More ‘Animals!’
As promised the ‘Sixer’(technically ‘Sevener’).
This feels good! I mean I’m not saying the 12 Animals posted a few days ago doesn’t, it’s just…ok I’m printing myself into a corner now, like where you’re trying to ‘big up’ one of your children while keeping the universal love of all.
Both prints are now on the website so I’ll leave you to decide whether it’s love, price, space, a little of each, or actually not really being into scruffy woodcuts of barely representational critters at all!

Don’t worry, it’s one of those false arrows through her head. She uses it to freak out her cubs. Also it’s very useful for playing dead. Get a ‘brave’ hunter close enough and bam, packed lunches for the cubs!
Pink Sundancer
Dont worry, in fact the world is its oyster as this single sun woodblock is freed from its day job after I carved an army of blocks to do the big prints. And rather than making this sole trader redundant it’s opened up a world of colour that happens to begin with this pink that was leftover on my rolling glass. Personally I’m looking forward to a green sun. Aren’t we all!🙂👍💚☀️
‘Black and white’
In order of appearance, last chance to see ‘Neptune Imposter’ this week @eastgatestudio , ‘Elephant’ will be appearing at a yet to be announced printmaking extravaganza in Sheffield, ‘Fragments’ will be taking up my studio time next week after wowing London @benoakleygallery_ , and as ever, all fascists can f*#~ right off. ‘Small Mercies’ Animals’ So, to mark the 100th birthday of the great David Attenborough today I’ve created a print of a selection of the animals featured in my ‘Small Mercies’ project. I’m also going to be doing a more affordable sixer what with everything being a bit shit at the moment in a world run by stupid old men, in stark contrast to Attenborough who has humbly shared the most beautiful images of the wonderful creatures that inhabit this planet alongside us despite our woeful mismanagement of it. Sorry to lace this celebration with a whiff of resentment towards pretty much the rest of the mature male world. Happy birthday David, long may your calm influence be felt.🙂👏👏⭐️
‘Animals’ A brief glimpse of the chosen animal blocks to herald tomorrow’s arrival for the first time of a collection of ‘Small Mercies‘ created on one sheet. Yes it’s the one you’ve been waiting for! Oh it isn’t? Oh in that case ignore all this, and probably give my account a miss tomorrow too. In fact you might want to check in on Ronaldo and Messi because they lost millions of followers in the ‘bot’ purge the other day. I lost 23 so I have an idea how they’re feeling right about now. 🙂👍
