Big love and speedy recovery to my Da @rexf88 he has just come out of a triple heart bypass ❤️🩹 In his words "They had to replace all the plumbing". He's currently in recovery from a 6 hour surgery, so it's gonna be awhile before he's back to racing on the waves but we are so lucky the doctor detected it before any heart attacks. My grandpa, his father died young from an aortic heart attack. My da is gonna be bionic after this. Forever stoic he said to his wife Sue "See you in a week" yesterday, ahead of the surgery. Indeed, he's gonna be out of it for awhile. Enjoy that general anaesthetic while it lasts! Christmas isn't really happening this year but I'm so happy to have been able to visit in the autumn ahead of his surgery. Happy memories ♥️ So grateful to @suefrost2 for looking after my Da the @nhsengland for life saving surgery and @hearts_together_hospital_hotel for providing accommodation so she can be close by over the coming week until they release him back into the wild. Well, more realistically house arrest. He's no slouch though. Ex Australian Royal Navy submariner and the fittest top 10% for his age. He's been doing Pilates for decades and hates being cooped up so I have no doubt he'll be back to all of the endless activities in 2026.

Been desperate for a beach day since I got my new car last year. Finally made it with my trusty co pilot and entertainment supervisor @benjoneshair A hilarious road trip to Hastings where we sampled in all the seaside pleasures. The most fun day out of 2025. Feeling ancient.
As a child I was obsessed with Greek mythology, amazing to visit these incredible sites where myths and legends were and are still are enacted. To see where the gladiators fought against ferocious beasts and each other. These were brutal and bloodthirsty times. Entertaining the masses was a way of preventing social unrest. A means of uniting communities. A distraction. Funny that I just shot the new cast of Gladiators with the brilliant @meganwinstonephoto before my trip.
I visited the Ear of Dionysius where the enslaved people were held captive. It took an army to build these monuments. Legend has it the acoustics were so good the emperor (clearly paranoid out of his mind) could hear every word uttered so rebellions could be quashed immediately. I screamed into the echo chamber, shyly at first but by my 3rd yell I'd got over that and was hitting full volume; then these cute little kids loved my animalistic release and joined in. Hilarious. We all need to let go and feel free even if there are no physical manacles binding us, there are other shackles we need to break free from. Release yourself, because most of what holds us these days is an artificial construct. Freedom is something we mostly take for granted in modern times in the west, yet it's only when we travel, go to an epic gig, festival or escape into nature do we really experience it.

Into The Wild
My love of snorkelling goes back to childhood in Devon. My Da @rexf88 the original man of the sea taught me how. I would spend hours with the fishes. Swimming doesn't really interest me, it's kinda boring. I wanna see the life beneath the waves. Always spellbound by the beauty of the subterranean world. It's like a different planet but right here on earth. I escaped into this nature reserve far from commercial tourism. It's a long walk from the car park and there are no amenities but sea life is returning, the tuna are back. Give nature a chance and it will return and recover. There is so much hope for our beautiful blue planet. We need to stop poisoning our oceans and overfishing. Because what lies beneath is nothing short of miraculous.

Sun, sea, sand and snorkelling. Did go out a little too far and nearly ended up as todays catch on a local fisherman's line. Started every day with yoga practice at my cute little B&B with sea views. Watched the sunset on the beach with aperitivo. Tomorrow new snorkelling destinations await. Loving the late heatwave.
