Three images chosen by @american_photography_winners for AP42. Two from the waters of Lake Geneva, WI and one from a hotel ballroom studio setup in Beverly Hills. I love the range of subject matter that ends up in the book each year, it’s really special to be among so many of the photographers I look up to and call my friends. Big thanks to the jury and organizers, see you at the party in NYC!

New work— I photographed the key art and character portraits of @nicolekidman @jamieleecurtis and the entire cast of Scarpetta, a new show on Prime video based on the crime novel series by Patricia Cromwell. I had the pleasure of sitting with legendary actor Sir Anthony Hopkins recently for this week’s @sundaytimesmagazine cover. When we began, he declined a few positioning requests I had for him, telling me that one of the most important pieces of acting advice he ever received was to “do nothing”. Hearing this was kind of a relief, he didn’t mind just being there while we talked, shot a few pics, talked some more and then wrapped it up. He’s a great storyteller and has a lot of lived life behind those eyes. This is the kind of session that reminds me why I love this job so much. Thanks for the call @russocphoto and thanks to Sir Anthony’s team and the Peninsula hotel for the hospitality and support.

A fun selection of photos to swipe through of the Oscar, BAFTA, Tony, and Golden Globe winning actor Eddie Redmayne, from a shoot I did recently in Los Angeles.Eddie brought a ton of creative energy to this shoot, especially with the fabric concept and my requests for expression in the poses. It was a great day out and a testament to my friend @jenlaskiphotovideo for commissioning this for TheWrap and letting us play, something we have done together on shoots for ages!Watch Eddie in the @peacock show The Day of the Jackal, with Season 2 in the works.

I recently photographed the key art for HBO/Max’s new film Mountainhead in Park City Utah. We had the unique problem of having too much space on a soundstage so it was fun to make a little studio world to contain things. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen @husskatz tape together two 12’ seamless papers to make a 24’ wide grey backdrop and floor to shoot (and sharpie) on. It was also fun to hand phone-sized LED panels to the subjects and let them provide their own fill. Haven’t watched the film yet but it sounds like a dystopian tech romp- timely!Huge thanks to:Liz Lang and Annalise Bandel @lizlangproductionKristi Fitts and Zach Krame @hbomaxPeter Stark @avsquadlaPhoto crew @husskatz @nickleadlay @ramon_felix_ @cameronhinojosBillboard photo by @nickleadlayGear and grip @screamingbroccoli
