It was joy writing for and hearing you bring our music to life. It was a privilege to be a part of your @uclaalpert residency this year. Thanks a bunch @brghtwrk ! Universal Studios brings many memories from movies that shaped me as a kid and continue to do so as an adult. Thank you @itsmiguelduran for opening so many doors for us through your amazing film and giving me the chance to talk about the music I wrote for you with the special honor of being at Universal Studios. As composers we spend most of our time in our creative cave, seeing the full cast all together in one room again was very special. Una experiencia inolvidable el escuchar la premier de mi pieza para orquesta "Donum Ser Piero" por la @opvorchestra bajo la dirección de Tonino Batista en Padua, Italia el 29 de Junio 🎶🇮🇹 Les dejo un pedacito del discurso que di hace un mes durante el concierto...también les incluyo el escrito completo abajo. Muy agradecido con Antonio Artese, @richard_danielpour , @anthonyconstantinocomposer y Tonino Batista. Aprendi demasiado de ustedes! 🎻🎺 ---- Durante el siglo XV en Florencia, en medio de estrictas expectativas sociales, un notario tomó una decisión radical: decidió desafiar las normas y ayudar a su hijo ilegítimo a perseguir el sueño imposible de convertirse en artista. Ese notario era Ser Piero, el padre de Leonardo da Vinci. Aunque ciertamente no soy da Vinci, su historia me conmovió. La música es mi mayor amor, y aunque mi padre era ingeniero y empresario, me concedió el regalo más profundo: una vida inmersa en la música. Con el fallecimiento de mi padre en noviembre del año pasado, decidí escribir una pieza para él. Si bien la muerte a menudo requiere música triste o solemne, esta pieza es alegre y llena de emoción. Está inspirada en el momento en que mi padre decidió apoyarme plenamente en este camino. Por esta razón, "Donum Ser Piero", o "El regalo de Ser Piero", es un homenaje y una dedicatoria al amor incondicional de un padre. Es una reflexión sobre el impacto que ese amor puede tener a lo largo de la vida de una persona—y como vemos con Leonardo Da Vinci, cómo ese amor puede tener el poder de cambiar el curso de la historia de la humanidad.

Since 2019 I wanted to pursue a masters in music composition and now that dream became a reality. Thank you so much for these 2 years @uclaalpert and for supporting my path as a concert music composer. I'm also excited to share that I learned I was the only composer accepted to do the PhD in Music Composition at UCLA this year. Feeling humbled and grateful to my teachers, mentors, and the community at the School of Music. Here's to more music and more learning! 🤓📚🎶

I went to the SCL Oscar Reception this past weekend and had the privilege of being surrounded by unbelievable talents—so inspiring to see them in person 🤩 !! Thrilled to share that my piece El Mar received a Finalist Honorable Mention from the American Prize National Competition in Shorter Choral Works! I wrote this work being so inspired by Pablo Neruda’s poem El Mar and how he captured so much beauty imbedded with philosophical and ethereal qualities 🌊🎶

Look like we going international, baby! Happy to share that my short is an OFFICIAL SELECTION for the International Sound and Film Music Festival (ISFMF) in CROATIA!!!! What? @isfmf_dreamaker festival is all about sound and film music! And we got an amazing score thanks to our amazing composer @joaquinlichtle The festival will be from October 10-13, 2024. I am very excited to share that my piece Leap of Faith received a Finalist Honorable Mention from the American Prize National Competition in Orchestral Works! So grateful that my concert music pieces are receiving this type of recognition! 🎻🎶🎺 I have yet to share a live recording of the piece, stay posted!
