Today, we honour the children who were taken and never returned home. We honour the Survivors who carry unimaginable strength in their stories. And we honour the generations of families and communities who continue to live with the impact of colonial violence.
As an 𝐎𝐣𝐢𝐛𝐰𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧, this day carries a weight that lives in my blood and in my bones. I carry the strength of my ancestors, but I also carry their grief and the responsibility to make sure their stories are never forgotten.
𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 is more than a date. It’s a commitment to listen deeply, to learn the truths many tried to erase, and to take real action toward healing.
