Each section carries its own distinct material and atmosphere, while improvised interludes extend and refract the composed music. Rubin has a wealth of performance experience on both modern and historical instruments, having performed with groups such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, the American Composers Orchestra, and the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra. Beyond performing, Rubin has served as the Program Director and Artistic Director of the International Contemporary Ensemble from 2011-2018, overseeing the creative direction of over one hundred concerts per season. Rubin is also passionate about technology in the arts, and as a result he developed LUIGI, a software platform that is available to ensembles and arts organizations to streamline operations like managing repertoire, scheduling, and budgeting.
