Another beautiful show with one of our favourite artists. All framed in a simple, thin, waxed sapele. Jay comes by the studio most months, usually yielding a dozen paintings and a bag of croissants. We usually stop for a coffee and a catch up and not a word is exchanged about the framing. She trusts us to use the right frame and to suggest something new when appropriate. This exhibition also featured another of our favourites, @eskamarsh more photos to come… @jayharperart @morgansfalmouth 📷 @marthaholmes_studio

British Timber! We’re finally able to offer a selection of native timbers as part of our moulding range. Here we have some delightful Cedar of Lebanon. We’re hand selecting specific lengths for their tight grain, perfect for skinny frames. As soon as we can, we’ll be sharing photos of the moulding as well as the first frames made from this incredible timber. We’re seeking artists who want to work with timber grown and processed here in the southwest. Get in touch!

⬅️Swipe to see process… Hand painted F+B Joa’s White To keep the paint on our mitres from cracking, we use face splines. Another unseen process that adds to the longevity of our frames.

ART TOUR >>> ‘The Bush’ series The frames in ‘The Bush’ series are made from Iroko hardwood, recycled from old decking, with marks from its previous life left visible. Crafted by @jmsmithframing , the same timber also forms the flooring of ‘Down the Hatch’, linking the two works through material. ‘The Bush’ draws on historic pub signs, shifting traditional palettes to pastels and pinks, and playfully references the female anatomy to acknowledge women’s historic role in brewing. Part of ‘Down the Hatch’, a solo exhibition commissioned @eastquaywatchet and funded by @aceagrams The show has now finished but documentation is now up on my website. Link in bio.

Thanks for the incredible 50+ year old storm felled British oak @_davidabbott There’s plenty of good hard timber between the surface woodworm. This frame will be a beauty.
