You see a picture of me standing looking at my car…. I see me looking at every job I did to get it to this point. The crash, the lows, the long nights in the garages. The small imperfection. The “Did I tighten that bolt up?” Without the videos to prove it, it would be difficult to believe I built this car. #e46m3 #builtnotbought #trackcar

Proof I was out on track and not just sat in the pits 😅 I still need the suspension dealing in as I just couldn’t get the power down as soon as I normally would for being super bouncy. I still had plenty or adjust on the rebound and compression but car decided to drop a rod… thankfully was a tie rod and the right moment.

Broken and facing the wrong way didn’t stop @photos_by_bacon from capturing some absolute peachy photos.

First outing in the car, @hackengineering track day, I wanted to get there in the daytime in case anything happened and I would hopefully be able to fix it. I wasn’t expecting much from it as it was a shakedown. Mixed matched tyres front to rear wasn’t optimal but it wasn’t like I was out there to prove a stupidly quick lap time out in the box. Just to simply see what rattled come loose or fell off and I had 2 out of 3 Happen. 😅 First small issue was seat bracket bolt was loose, nice easy fix. Second small issue brake reservoir lid Seal not sealing very well so was weeping. Microfibre cloth and a cable tie sorted that. And then the big one, vac tie rod end giving up on me. Super lucky at where it let go as I’ve just gone round paddock Hill bend through the compression up the hill got the breaking done trailing in slightly and then got a big wobble like a wheel coming off or come really loose. Pulled over immediately. And that was the result. got that sorted with an OEM part, thanks to @chris_shaw24 and some tools from @f80_ben and a big hammer from @m2c_ben we got it back together. But by then that was the end of the evening track day and it was an eyeball alignment so all in all could’ve been a lot worse.. frustrating it it failed, but also a plus that I didn’t end up smashing my car up all over again I’ve got a ways to go getting the suspension dialled in. Russ @swift.performance couldn’t be more helpful getting all that side of it sorted for me ready for the Donnington Swift Performance track day. in summary, the car stops faster turns in faster accelerates faster. And honestly, it’s going to take a bit of getting used to because im looking at my old car. I’m sitting in my old car but it’s completely different. Muscle memory is a funny thing. Lap times happily sitting in 53’s with optimal 52’s so with a matching set of tyres and correct spring rates, the old shed has got plenty more to give.
