39 was the year of August - in no particular order (which is exactly the way it went).
I went to very few yoga classes this year compared to most. In my first class after giving birth, the teacher shared a sentiment from Pema Chodron that I’ve carried with me through my days: “Don’t resist. Don’t react. Let it pierce you to the heart.” What an anthem this has been♥️
Soaking in the fullness of summer. Honored to design for Art in Bloom at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, surrounded by such talent and beauty.
I was immediately drawn to In the Swing by Henry Strater (1928)- a scene that felt easy and familiar, like a memory I hadn’t lived yet.
Grateful for the inspiration, for my family in the frame, and for the season now unfolding all around us 🌿
Our rock, our safe place, our whole world. Thank you for holding us all together and for keeping us laughing. We are so incredibly lucky. Happy first Father’s Day, B - you’re a great one ♥️
Brandon and I welcomed our son, August Oleander, in the depths of winter. Watching him grow—discovering the world, and especially delighting in nature as it unfurls from the quiet starkness of January to the full abundance of June—has been nothing short of magical.
Part of my intention with Wintertide is for August: to have a mother who is fully alive, creative, and deeply connected to both herself and the natural world.
He already loves to touch the soft petals and marvel at the leaves as they dance in the wind.
Our boy 🤍

August Oleander Pullen joined us on January 24th just as the sun rose over Portland. It was, perhaps, the most peaceful and sacred moment I’ve ever experienced - my whole heart laid on my chest.
Watching Brandon become a dad has been an honor. I’m endlessly grateful for his humor, kindness, and patience, and, of course, for always capturing us in our best light (see the last photo).
Here we are in this beautiful and disorienting time. I could not love our little family more 🤍
