@jkala took us on vacation to visit her friend @kirstens__s in Florida. And it turns out renting a nice but nondescript millennial modern gray Airbnb with a pool when it’s 85 degrees and sunny every day is really nice. August rocked his first plane ride, nailed down this whole walking thing, and started learning to swim, and tried salsa for the first time. There were some tears involved in all of these things, but as always; smiles in the end.

Caitlin and Ryan got married at the beautiful @notchhousevt on September 6th. Caitlin and Ryan did an engagement session so we already had a solid connection and their day was easy going despite a rainy start to the day causing shifting plans. It was also the day I discovered I am now allergic to wasp stings as my whole right arm had swollen and I developed a fever from a sting at an elopement the previous day. Challenges aside, their day was full of laughter, love, and beauty and wound up being exactly the kind of party they wanted. The rain let up right before speeches and dancing were supposed to kick off. Caitlin spotted the makings of a sunset, and we ran up the hill from the barn and were rewarded with the most beautiful violet afterglow. Sometimes everything just works out.
And now I have an epi pen.

In the fall I let Squarespace’s built in AI do my SEO because while SEO is necessary it seems like mentally exhausting nonsense to me. About a week ago I copied and pasted the link to my website on a FB group for potential brides where I discovered that tagline for my website had been changed to “EXPLORE expert photography” which is about the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen. And while it doesn’t keep me up at night I do think about it anytime I have more than five seconds of peace strung together. Lesson learned about human follow through I guess.

Bright and colorful for this beautiful bride😍 When I started talking with @corbi_doesmyhair she didn’t really have a color palette in mind for flowers. She gave me the color of her bridesmaid dresses and from there I sent a few color palettes that I thought would coordinate best with those. She was naturally drawn to brighter colors and essentially let me take the reins from there. So much fun to have creative freedom with these a la carte pieces!

I met Lindsey @lacambridge and Bill @the_bc_experience on my month long rafting trip through Grand Canyon. If you’ve never had an experience where you’ve been isolated from society with a small group of people for a month, it can form an unusual bond in a short amount of time. Highs, lows, surprises, cooking together, eating together, hiking together and literally pooping in the same bucket will do that. Bill is just an exceptional dude and a heck of a boatman. I witnessed Bill playing like a god of rock surrounded by ancient canyon walls as a thunderstorm rolled in and he played in the rain to an audience of six, which can sound lame but was assuredly not. Day in day out drinking coffee together (sometimes with Allen’s coffee brandy), helping load each other’s boats, laughing, complaining, and waiting for the day’s adventure, we all became friends.
By the end of trip when I came upon Lindsey naked from the waist down with one leg skyward inexplicably putting on yoga pants standing up next to their tent (which was next to mine) she just said “Well, now you’ve seen it” and we proceeded on normally without need for further discussion or any weirdness. And on the van ride back to civilization no offense was taken when Lindsey said “I don’t want to sit next to Brandon he stinks” (I did) Bill said “Lindsey, be nice” (She didn’t).
When we reached civilization we went back to our lives, but when I found out they were expecting I told Lindsey we needed to take pictures. Lindsey said she would consider it (Lindsey says she doesn’t like having her picture taken but then will also casually mention how she has modeled before).
So I let that idea simmer until finally they (she) gave in and they came up. It was great to see them and their dog Rio, reconnect, and discuss the big new adventure they are on. I’m behind on posting and the rad little dude is already here, but this still deserves a spot on the feed.

Kristen and Sam celebrated their years of being together with a wedding at the beautiful A Barn in Dayton, Maine. It was a day that started with rain but then cleared, surrounded by the most loving and supportive family and friends.
