From a group exhibition, sending artworks into space (36,000 m / 22 miles), hosting the ARTAINER project, a performance, and a series of pop-up events - our journey with Jiny Lan (@jinylan ) continues with her solo exhibition CHINESE GRAVITY at Kunstraum Heilig Geist.
Curated by Colmar Schulte-Goltz (@colmar.official ) and with the gallery kunst-raum schulte-goltz + noelte (@schulte_goltz_noelte ), this is the first exhibition in our series “kunst-raum × Kunstraum”.

On the occasion of Berlin Art Week, I held a 4-day live performance, EYEWITNESSES WANTED FOR ARTIST at @expandedart as part of the exhibition SEED STORIES. AI IN CONTEXT, curated by @Anika Meier.
During this live painting performance, I appropriated the work PSEUDOMNESIA: THE ELECTRICIAN by German artist and photographer Boris Eldagsen in a painted reproduction of my own interpretation.
On day two of the performance, we were surprised to suddenly see two black cars pulled up and two bodyguards got out. It turned out to be Christian Lindner, Germany’s Federal Finance Minister, who had come by to see my performance and the exhibition.
During his visit, we had a long conversation about art, discussing promptography, collaborating with robots, photography and AI, appropriation art, and copying. It was a wonderful opportunity to speak about contemporary art as it relates to the future of technology.

I will use the proceeds to help prepare my performance for the planned exhibition ECCENTRIC. AESTHETICS OF FREEDOM at the Pinakothek der Moderne in the fall of 2024.
For many of us, the value of freedom in everyday life is not always obvious. Freedom is taken for granted. For me, who lived under different conditions in my homeland, freedom is not a given. My artwork TONGJI INTELLIGENCE-YINE, which seems harmless at first glance, could lead to a prison sentence for me in China, where, for example, Winnie the Pooh is banned.

Die Einnahmen werden mir bereitgestellt, um die Vorbereitung meiner Performance für die geplante Ausstellung ECCENTRIC. ÄSTHETIK DER FREIHEIT im Museum Pinakothek der Moderne im Herbst 2024 zu unterstützen.
Der Wert der Freiheit ist vielen von uns im Alltag nicht gegenwärtig. Freiheit wird als gegeben angenommen. Für mich, die unter anderen Bedingungen in meiner Heimat lebte, ist Freiheit nicht selbstverständlich. Mein auf den ersten Blick harmlos wirkendes Kunstwerk TONGJI INTELLIGENZ-YINE könnte in China für mich zu einer Freiheitsstrafe führen, da beispielsweise Pu der Bär verboten worden ist.
Das Gemälde, das die Vorlage dieser exklusiven Edition ist, entstand während einer Performance, die ich in Kooperation mit 12 Landsleuten durchgeführt habe. Auf der 126. Jubiläumsfeier der Tongji Universität lud ich 12 Mitfeiernde ein, mit mir ein Bild zu malen. Jede Person bekam eine Leinwand, die als Farbpalette zum Mischen von Farben diente. Aus den Farbresten auf den Leinwänden schuf ich Figuren, in denen ich in China verbotene Elemente entweder versteckte oder demonstrativ zeigte; wie Pu der Bär. Die Teilnehmer der Performance wurden so in das Zensursystem einbezogen.
