SIDEKICK (2025) by Jörg W. Schirmer (@joerg_w._schirmer ) is available at EXPANDED.ART. This striking bronze sculpture, set in rainbow neon colors, measures 90 cm (35.4 in) and is an edition of 7/7. Schirmer’s practice draws inspiration from his own drawings based on life models, works by old masters, and early 20th-century nude photography. His focus on the nude explores the expressive potential of the body, which he sees as a carrier of meaning and emotion. Rather than emphasizing facial expression, Schirmer conveys personal and situational moods, allegorical themes, and character through bodily form. Working with traditional art-historical motifs and dynamic perspectives, his sculptures and paintings are defined by their distinctly mannerist, elongated proportions. As the artist states: “The face is the complete nude, the nude is the face.” 🟩 Explore JÖRG SCHIRMER’s SIDEKICK and more at EXPANDED.ART. #jörgschirmer #expandedart

“For me, thinking like an algorithm is incredibly liberating. It allows me to enter a machine-like monologue, to experience iterations, repetitions, and patterns in human time. Each typewriter drawing or generative piece starts with a visual formula or algorithm, and exploring its possibilities gives form to ideas that might otherwise remain abstract.” – Paul Prudence, 2023 Paul Prudence (@mrprudence ) is a British artist whose work spans typewriter-based drawings, hand-plotted mechanical systems, and generative digital art. Drawing on a background in textile design and inspired by concrete poetry, he explores the intersections of text, pattern, and algorithm, often transforming ordinary typewriters into hand-operated plotters to investigate the processes behind visual computation. 🟩 Visit EXPANDED.ART to learn more. #PaulPrudence #ExpandedArt

“For me, art is looking at the world with childlike wonder and transforming that wonder into creation. We strive to create virtual worlds, like fairy tales, where we can rehearse for reality and exist in a state of ‘as if’—as if we were dreaming, touching water, or flying, using only our bodies.” – Monika Fleischmann, November 2024 Monika Fleischmann (@monikafleischmann1671 ) and Wolfgang Strauss (@wolfgang.strauss.33 ) are Berlin-based digital art pioneers who, since the mid-1980s, have worked at the intersection of art and technology, exploring virtual reality, interactive environments, and generative art through code and computers as artistic media. In 1987, they co-founded ART+COM, Germany’s first research institute for digital media, art, and architecture, and through interdisciplinary collaboration, performative interfaces, and immersive environments, they have positioned digital art as a “thinking space” for understanding perception, interaction, and the evolving relationship between bodies, data, and technology. 🟩 Visit EXPANDED.ART to learn more. #MonikaFleischmann #WolfgangStrauss #ExpandedArt

“For me, AI is quite possibly the most liberating thing I’ve experienced. It’s a mirror to the imagination. I finally have an outlet for all my ideas. Each image I make is based on an idea or an image that materializes in my mind
I do believe that when the intangible becomes tangible, it becomes less frightening.” – Phillip Toledano, 2023 Phillip Toledano (@mrtoledano ) is a British conceptual artist living and working in New York City. Working across photography, AI-generated imagery, installation, sculpture, painting, and video, he explores universal and socio-political themes. His recent AI series, Another America, reflects a world that doesn’t quite make sense, challenging viewers emotionally and intellectually. 🟩 Visit EXPANDED.ART to learn more. #PhillipToledano #ExpandedArt

Kenny Schachter’s (@schachterkenny ) PAY NOTHING (2020) is available at EXPANDED.ART. This giclĂ©e print, measuring 70 × 70 cm (27 1/2 × 27 1/2 in) and issued in an edition of 60 + 1/3 AP, exemplifies Schachter’s long-standing critique of the art world’s exclusionary systems and opaque market mechanics. An artist, writer, curator, dealer, and critic, Schachter positions himself as both insider and outsider, using humor and blunt candor to expose the art world’s exclusionary systems. Influenced by Paul Thek and Vito Acconci, his work critiques pricing, privilege, and the unspoken rules of the market, challenging the art world’s self-seriousness while making its mechanisms visible to those outside it. 🟩 Explore Kenny Schachter’s PAY NOTHING and more at EXPANDED.ART. #kennyschachter #expandedart

BĂ„rd Ionson’s (@bardionson ) CALIFORNIA CONSCIOUSNESS (2023) is available at EXPANDED.ART. This immersive work, generated through a Video AI GAN, runs 02:00 and is issued in an edition of 1/1/8. Developed from a family journey across California—spanning Los Angeles to San Francisco and the in-between landscapes—over 2,000 images were fed into the model. Roads and deserts give way to fields of artichokes, strawberries, chickpeas, and vineyards; the ocean, wildlife, and the towering redwoods dominate the visual field. Through the model’s learning process, open space and nature eclipse the human presence, eliminating man-made objects and people despite the multitude of vehicles captured. Ionson distills a collective memory of place into a meditative vision, where technology becomes a lens for environmental consciousness. The result is a cinematic abstraction of California’s vastness—an AI-driven reverie that reframes travel, memory, and landscape. 🟩 Explore BĂ„rd Ionson’s CALIFORNIA CONSCIOUSNESS and more at EXPANDED.ART. #bardionson #expandedart

Darren Bader’s (@moses_hosiery ) MORE SURFBOARDS (2020) is available at EXPANDED.ART. This work, comprising surfboards measuring 182.9 × 55.9 cm (72 × 22 in) each, exemplifies Bader’s ongoing engagement with conceptual gestures and the shifting frameworks through which objects accrue meaning and value. Bader is a conceptual artist working across a broad range of media and is known for his experiments with language, misattribution, and found objects. His practice has included unconventional gestures—selling money, releasing live goats into a gallery, or creating a sculpture conditional upon its owner buying every item in an eBay seller’s shop. Through these works, Bader interrogates the mechanisms by which objects become “art.” “Contemporary art is by its very nature kind of a tenuous proposition and category,” he notes. “I always sense these fault lines, and perhaps I’m overly sensitive to it—perhaps paranoid, I don’t know.” 🟩 Explore Darren Bader’s MORE SURFBOARDS and more at EXPANDED.ART. #darrenbader #expandedart
