Countdown to Public Sex + New Year’s Eve The opening of Nailah Otunba and Jillian Wendel’s exhibition is only two days away and we cannot wait to show you what we’ve been up to in the shed. Some background…Nai and Jill have sunk over 15 hours into the installation of the exhibition alone. That doesn’t count the hours dedicated to making works and coordinating the opening. The artists are so excited to show off their commitment to an ambitious vision. Their first collaboration will be one for the books. Very excited to lead a talk on some of the current works on display at the Warehouse. I’ll be speaking to the surreal qualities evident in works by artists Louise Bonnet, Marguerite Humeau, Jamian Juliano-Villani, and Hannah Levy, among others. Thank you @caitover for inviting me to speak on a subject I’m passionate about with a collection of work I adore. It wasn’t too long ago that I was a gallery attendant at the Warehouse so I’m honored to have a platform to talk about art at a place I called my work home for several years. Hope to see y’all there!

From our guest curator: "Stacy Xilo: 𝘿𝙚 𝙇𝙖 𝙏𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙖 𝙖 𝙏𝙪 𝙋𝙞𝙚𝙡 is curated by Jillian Wendel. Jill met Stacy while being tattoed by the artist last summer. While on the table, letting her skin consume the ink, she asked Stacy if she’d allow her to curate her work sometime. Nearly a year later, they’re excited to open and celebrate Stacy’s second solo exhibition, this time in the newly named SPUD gallery at Easyside. Jill is an independent curator, museum educator, and arts professional splitting their time between Denton and Dallas, TX. Over the last few years, Jill has curated nearly a dozen exhibitions throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, working with local, emergent, and student artists. Through her work, Jill has found a robust network and community of creatives in North Texas. The Shed Show, founded by Jill, is a backyard project space where she mounts exhibitions in her gable-roofed storage shed in Denton, TX." We can't wait to see you all at the opening reception this Saturday 3/22, 3-5pm!
