Finally shouting out the wonderful human that is @ruffkid who took time out of their busy busy schedule to take these pics for me when I was home last summer <3 I've never had professional pictures done out in the streets and I was really nervous but Ms. Ruff (sorry, old habit 😊) made me feel safe and beautiful! I wanted to capture two main things with these pictures - my curly hair and NY. They nailed them both.

June 5th, 1931 - November 27th, 2025.
Yesterday, we laid grandma to rest 🤍. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day filled with love, family and care to send her off in the funeral of her dreams. (No, literally, she's been telling us exactly how she wanted her funeral to go for a decade 😂)
She was 94, has lived a long and fulfilling life, and she's been ready to go for a while, so I didn't think her passing would make me as emotional as it has. I thought I'd just be happy she was at peace and happy that I got to live the last six years in the same city with her, and spend more Christmas's with her than I ever have my entire life. These things are, of course, true - but I don't think I realized how deeply I'd miss her.
I'll miss her cooking and her annoyance when I couldn't manage a third or fourth plate of her incredible cooking. I'll miss the way she managed to fit 20 of us around a table that realistically only fit 6 people in the tiny kitchen on Station Road. I'll miss that first taste of her pork stew and rice and peas every time we came to London every two years growing up. I'll miss going to different bakeries to bring her treats because she loved them. I'll miss making her sorrell and her being shocked that I made it from scratch every time. I'll miss bringing her the fried fish my dad made for her in New York and how quickly and ferally she'd inhale it. I'll miss bringing her boxes of mangos and the joy on her face as she tore through them. I'll miss the chances I got to braid her hair and the stories she told me while I did. I'll miss how she'd look at my tattoos with a frown and tell me that I shouldn't get anymore. I'll miss all the chances I got to make her life easier as her old age made her life difficult. I'll miss the laugh I got out of her in-between her telling me how she was annoyed with everyone. I'll miss just being in the same room with her. 🤍
I'm lucky that I get to live with these memories, and so many more, for the rest of my life. I'm lucky to have been loved by this incredible woman. She'd say to me, "do good and good will follow you." I'm lucky to have had her as an example of exactly that. 🤍
