Pleased to announce that ‘Why Can’t We Just Concrete It?’ will be exhibited as part of the upcoming Contemporary Landscapes show at @fronteer_art ! Contemporary Landscapes 19-28 May @fronteer_art ‘Why Can’t We Just Concrete It?’ is about the tension between the natural and human made, between quick fixes and long term resolution and the void that might be left by nature in future human made landscapes. The void in the piece is from some eroded clay I collected from the East Yorkshire coastline - the fastest eroding coastline in Europe - which was then washed away by a hosepipe simulating heavy rain. The title is an ironic one, highlighting the short term (or non-existent) thinking prevalent in the current approach to the climate emergency.

📍 Barriers To Nature: Pinning The Barrier 📍 Hey everyone, I'm starting to think about and introduce ways that other people can get involved with the Barriers To Nature project - starting with this one. It's a simple community mapping of plastic tree guards. See a plastic tree guard, find the location on the shared digital map and drop a pin on it! I'm hoping, in it's most basic form that this will serve as a way of seeing for those who are out walking and are interested. I'm really looking forward to uncovering hot spots of forgotten guards! This is a shared list using Google Maps. A link to the shared list is in my profile. Once you click the link, you should be able to save pins in the list. Drop a pin where you see plastic tree guards, press save and select the 'Pinning The Barrier' list. Done! Any question let me know!

Few analogue shots from ‘Barriers To Nature’ at @koda.coffee in January. Installed perfectly by @the.aimless.archive . Really nice start to the year.

In March we were invited by @sunnybankmills to do something for their Print Festival 2026. Using DIY sticker making techniques, we built a sticker board through photo layering and image construction. We used an abundance of photographs from the NASA archive, which ended up being quite timely - a month later, NASA sent Artemis II out into space! 🚀 By the end of the day we had a pretty full sticker board, built from the creations of everyone who passed by the table on the day! A big thank you goes to @jfosterart for supporting us on the day (and for taking these brilliant b&w photographs on his neat digicam!), to @annasunnybank for the kind invite to bring the workshop and library to life, and to the SBM team on the day for being the kindness and most supportive people! Especially after a couple of technical hitches 🤐 Would you like us to deliver a workshop at your print fair, organisation, get together, fundraiser, or event? We’d love to hear from you, so please get in touch! 📞

A series of photograms made with the guidance of @victoriasmith.uk in the newly constructed dark room by @halfframefullflavour at @hari_artsresearch I wanted to explore and experiment with some of the objects im thinking about a lot - dried leaves from the garden (sycamore), dead roots, plastic tree guard and bark (birch). I really, really enjoyed the process and, hopefully, will get back in the dark room soon to play some more! Huge thanks to @victoriasmith.uk for teaching me and being supportive always. To Joe & Mars / @halfframefullflavour for creating the dark room and giving their time. To Sarah / @hari_artsresearch for the incredible amount of work and exciting projects happening there and always being lovely, open and supportive.

Sometimes wonder where my tendency for squares comes from and then I come across photos like these. This is the water tower - the final part to be demolished. I could see this from my bedroom window growing up. Edit: forgot to mention this is also my old school! Photo credit: Tracey Dixon

This piece is inspired by Giuseppe Penone’s ‘Thoughts In The Roots’, specifically the ‘People And Years’ work combing tree rubbings with writing. Saggar fired stoneware ceramic.

Instead of tree rubbings as used by Penone, I’ve used a tree guard as a mold (thanks Paul at Garrowby Orchard).

The words are about my early experiences of trees. Mainly my Dad’s old yucca tree and noticing those big ones - normally solitary - in the middle of farmland whilst on car journeys.
