Over 25 years ago, Jeremy Boreing declared to his family that one day he was going to bring Stephen R. Lawhead’s series of novels to life on screen. And today, that dream is a reality, as the series hits DW+ with some amazing billboards in Times Square announcing its arrival.
Three years ago, we opened a small writer’s room in Nashville with Jeremy, Ryan Whitaker, Rose Reid, Lee Blaylock, Josiah Nelson, and Stevie Card. A first season of scripts were crafted, and away to Europe we went.
Months later, a cast and crew of nearly 1000 embarked on a journey all over Hungary, Italy, and Romania, fighting in the mud and snow and freezing rain, even jumping over live bulls in the famous Cinecitta Studios in Rome. Led by our directors, Jeremy, Ryan, Jesse V Johnson & Travis Mills, and cinematographers Kris Kimlin, Akis Konstantakopoulos, Maxime Alexandre & Abris Gosztola, we returned home with thousands of hours of footage.
Another year of editing with Jared Bentley all the brilliant performances of Tom Sharp, James Arden, Rose Reid, Daniel Fathers, Emree Franklin, Finney Cassidy, Myles Clohessy, Brett Cooper, Steve Varnom, Alex Laurence-Phillips, and so many other legends. 2000+ VFX shots, amazing color and sound finishing, all done by Buffalo 8.
