Flashback to our final day of shooting on location for SURPRISED BY OXFORD in November of 2021. Here we are in Radcliffe Square, which appears a handful of times in the film. One of the scenes we shot that day was cut from the final film — but it was a treat to command that historic square for a short time.

On this day in 2022, I was filming pages from a three volume set of books called “Memorials of Oxford” by James Ingram (published in 1837), which feature stunning engravings by John Le Keux. With the help of @aaronleeseldon and our editor Zach Prichard, we shot various engravings from throughout the books, as well with page turns, etc. for two purposes: 1) for a montage early in SURPRISED BY OXFORD and 2) for our end credits, which we shot in-camera, using engravings from the books re-printed on aged paper along with the corresponding titles.

While shooting in Romania for @pendragoncycle reshoots, we looked out at this extraordinary valley in the mountains and thought, what else can we shoot up here?? And that's how this shot of Merlin came about (which ended up in the opening sequence of the series).

GREEN FOR DANGER (1946) is a delightfully entertaining murder mystery from Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat (who wrote Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes" and Carol Reed's "Night Train to Munich"). Very artfully staged (shot at Pinewood Studios). The film stars Alistair Sim, Trevor Howard, Leo Genn, Sally Gray, and Megs Jenkins (Mrs Grose in "The Innocents"). I have a particular fondness for British films from the 1940s and this one is a delight.

MASSIVE PRAISE FOR THE PENDRAGON CYCLE
Joe Rogan had Oscar-winning screenwriter (PULP FICTION) Roger Avary on his podcast today, and @roger.avary brought up how much he is enjoying THE PENDRAGON CYCLE!
“The mainstay producers at the studios are no longer reliable in producing quality television. So suddenly we see stuff rising out of places completely unexpected, this was produced by The Daily Wire of all places……
They are spending billions making these Lord of The Rings things and nobody cares, they’re just awful to watch. In the mean time, these guys without anyone paying attention cranked this out. I’ve only seen four episodes of it and I am completely blown away by it!”
