About two years ago, I hit a crossroads as a full-time touring singer/songwriter: I needed to find a way to keep making music without failing at my most important job—being a father. I wrote “Burn The Boats” about that exact moment of realization, knowing I had to go out on a limb and commit to a scary new path to make it all work. After a lot of soul-searching, I decided to look for roles as a Songwriting Professor, which led me to leave New England and head to @shenandoahconservatory ✨ It’s been an absolute honor serving as the Interim Director of the @cmedshenandoah Program this past year; working with such incredible students and colleagues has been a life-changing, fulfilling challenge. To everyone who has trusted me with this responsibility, you have my deepest thanks. I’m already looking forward to the 2026/2027 year at Shenandoah, but first, I’m spending this summer immersing myself in songwriting, videography, and digital marketing—and, of course, playing some sweet shows up and down the East Coast!

Since I picked up a guitar and started writing, I’ve been fascinated with that question. Whatever the answer is, I do believe that learning the magic songs is good practice for any singer/songwriter. Hopefully some of that DNA rubs off on us and sprinkles some fairy dust on our own tunes! ✨
