@ozomatli - Marching On Recorded and mixed by Yours Truly. Produced by my brother @davidgarzamusic We tracked this at the end of Feb 2020 and had no idea what the world had in store for us... After mixing the album, with all the uncertainty and chaos, the label decided put a hold on releasing it. During that time, the band started toying with the tracks on their own and came up with new songs and new collabs. One of them which was a bucket list of mine to work with @breal on the song "Mi Destino" also featuring @gaby_moreno The song got picked up for the movie @flaminhotmovie 🔥 directed by @evalongoria . 👏 🇲🇽✊🏽🇺🇸

I have a profound admiration for my brother @Leiva . 🙏 Making this album with him and all the talented artists featured on it, was such a beautiful journey full of magical moments that i’ll never forget. For “Peligrosamente Dark”, I remember Leiva grabbed a cardboard box that he found in the studio to show Adan what kind of rhythm he wanted for the song. To everyone’s surprise, the box sounded so good so we just went ahead and recorded it instead of using regular drums 😂.

Beautifully crafted mix by @heyjonlow Sometimes I get asked how certain sounds were achieved on the different albums I recorded and it’s really an honor to know that people like them, but you have to understand that you’re not only hearing a great drum sound or a great guitar sound. What you’re hearing is an extraordinary performance by an incredible drummer, singer, or guitar player. I’ve been truly blessed to work with such talented artists like the ones on this album. 🙏🏽

@kevinmorby 's Sundowner Recorded and mixed by Yours Truly. Produced by my dear brother @bradleywcook Sometimes albums flow like water. This one was one of them, and i feel extremely grateful to have been part of it. I remember Kevin showing up to the studio and seeing this crazy looking heel-shaped chair and telling Brad "I want to sing right here!" I mic'd him up and he sang and played the entire album there. 😂 He also played what he called at the time "scratch drum tracks" because they were going to be replaced later by a drummer. Well...that never happened. His drum playing had so good it had to be kept. (sometimes non-drummers are my favorite drummers)

,are you recording Trevor? .... —"YES." I have such distinct memories from every one of these songs and listening back teleports me back in time instantly. I was an additional mixer on this album and I was so nervous the entire time. I felt like I was handed a golden egg and I could drop it and break it at any moment. I guess It all turned out ok 😅. This album created many lifelong friendships, and I’m very grateful for that. Thank you to my dear brother @bradleywcook for believing in me and allowing me to be part of this. 🙏 Thank you to Chris Messina and @hansonzj . So much of how I mix today was taken from watching you two work. Oh yeah, @_zacatejas aka “YMZ” for having my back during those days. Thank you Justin for your beautiful art. I couldn’t imagine my life without it.

Do you have Amazon Prime? Check out the gorgeous documentary that inspired the music for this album. You will not regret it. A perfect 100% on @rottentomatoes . One moment I'll never forget was when @chess_with_charlie was recording the song "Corazon". It seemed like the whole world stopped as soon as he started playing. When he finished the take, I opened my eyes to stop the recording and noticed there were even tears in the room. I'm so glad that moment was captured on tape; now you can experience it yourself.

@bandaloschinos - BACH Produced by @adanjodorowsky Engineered by me ✋ & @_zacatejas Mixed by @jacklahana Most albums come with some challenges, but for this one, Adan threw me a curve ball that no other producer had ever done before. He said I was not allowed to use any gear that was made after the late 70s. Adan's choice really defined the sound of this album which ended up being nominated for the best-engineered album at the @latingrammys . Of course, none of that would have been possible without the talent and love of everyone involved mentioned above. The album starts with the song "Vamonos De Viaje". I decided to join them on their "Viaje". It has been a fantastic ride. Thank you for bringing me along mis Bandolerows!!

I was fortunate to be the substitute teacher after my brother @edwardspear had to leave for the last 4 days of recording. He did a stellar job with the mix as well. One day, Tony Rancich the owner of the studio came into the session and told a fascinating story of a mountain in Mexico near the studio where Pancho Villa had buried a bunch of gold. Cody, being a master storyteller himself, transformed that tale into an amazing song called "Desert Wind" that draws you in from the second he starts singing.
