“HE’S THE FASTEST KID ALIVE!”
I don’t take many pictures with athletes and coaches. Too much foundation in traditional journalism and the pre-social media world, even as much has changed with times, my career and my relationships.
But had to take a moment when we were chatting to just document a memory. It’s always been a pleasure knowing @easton.3k and watching him work. You knew early on he was probably going to be a pretty good player and kid, but had no idea he was going to be elite, record-setting fast.
Dude has been determined and has strived for nothing less than greatness, continuing relentless work toward constant improvement and his pursuit of his fullest potential. He’s now run the fastest official 100-meter dash in Louisiana high school history — and remains far from satisfied.
Excited for E for a record 10.17-second run, but more so for the belief, drive and work that have gone into getting there and remain at the forefront of not slowing down — on the track or in any capacity.
Keep being great, kid.

A lot of the past few years have felt like such an uphill slog trying to grind back from some big hits and their subsequent ripples. But the past year felt like one of definite, encouraging progress.
I also think I’ve started to look at my birthday as sort of a first-quarter progress report of how the new calendar year is going. And, so far so good on some developments early in 2026 specifically.
So, counting blessings — in particularly so many great folks around me for whom I am grateful and with whom I look forward to continuing to grow during the next years.
(I say fully recognizing the irony of the only picture I have being a solo shot 😂😂😂)

A small thing, and I need to do better about devoting more time each day. But I made a commitment back in 2022 that I would do at least one quick Italian lesson every day. And I’m proud 1,200 days later to still be rolling. 🇮🇹

First 9 for Rontrae “Shark” Carter
At a ranking of #15 as Safety/Nickel in Louisiana Recruiting, Carter has begun preparation for a blast out Junior Season ahead.
Boasting consecutive starts as far back as 8th Grade, regarding last season, Carter lead the Archbishop Shaw Eagles to a State Championship, the school’s first in 37 years.
Great instincts, game knowledge, and explosion upon receivers makes Carter a big problem for passing quarterbacks. It’s impossible to out run him to the sideline. A competitive force with
the support of great coaching and big goals. Rontrae Carter is a 3 star D1 prospect with hopes of NFL action.
Carter holds great accolades including:
- 1st Team All district as an 8th and 10th grader
- District 4A Defensive MVP
- 1st team All state
- 1st team All Metro
- State champion
