Bucket list item: @dashboardconfessional in concert! I first discovered Dashboard around 2002 or 2003, and Chris Carraba became the soundtrack of the rest of my college years and many years after. My little emo heart is gonna be so happy tonight! (Oh, and Goo Goo Dolls is the headliner.) Let’s go!
We left Myrtle Beach this morning, heading south along the Atlantic coast. We stopped in Charleston to visit Market Street and so some shopping before heading down to Hilton Head Island, where we took a dolphin tour. What a fun experience! Now we are heading west back toward Louisiana, where we will arrive tomorrow. This has been a fabulous trip, but I’ll admit I’m antsy to get back home!
For our final night in Myrtle Beach, we drove north to North Myrtle Beach and visited the Apache Pier, the longest wooden pier on the Eastern seaboard. I didn’t count the number of steps, but we strolled like a whole lot of feet out above the Atlantic Ocean, and we could see all the lights up and down the coast. It was a beautiful night, and I’m definitely going to miss the ocean breeze. I wouldn’t consider myself a beach guy because honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the sand, but I do love a cool ocean breeze. Tomorrow begins our 2-day adventure back home to Louisiana. Stay tuned to see what’s next!
We came to South Carolina 362 days ago to see this young lady get married. Tonight I got to see her again for the first time since the wedding. Fun times and great conversation with the baby sis @marymargaretbowen and her husband, Cory. Can’t wait to see you again when you return to Louisiana to visit!
We celebrated 20 years of marriage today with a delicious dinner at the Sea Captain’s House with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, after starting our day on the massage table being pampered. Now back to the resort for more relaxation the rest of the night!
Me at the beach earlier today vs. me at the pool right now. In between, I ate some pizza and took a nap. I came here determined to relax and get some rest, and that’s certainly been achieved today!
After eating lunch by the beach, we visited the Brookgreen Gardens and saw some nice greenery, sculptures and animals native to South Carolina, before we found our way back to the beach for supper, a stroll along the Surfside Beach Pier and a drive north and along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, where I once again got to put my toes in the ocean. The sheer amount of beachfront resorts is incredible to see. I swear the strip in Myrtle is bigger than the one in Vegas!
Chalk another stadium off the list. South Carolina’s Williams-Brice Stadium has a super cool vibe, and the setup with all of the team’s facilities (operations center, practice fields, indoor practice field) being all together with a public park area is a great setup. The biggest problem? Campus is like 2 miles away, so that’s not ideal. Neither is having campus right in the middle of downtown in a capital city. The fake USC did get off some pretty cool vibes and beautiful architecture. We just drove through campus, so no photos there. Next stop: Myrtle Beach!
