@jerettsamples ā boat to be preciseāaka his house. As someone who grew up on boats around the Chesapeake Bay, being on the water feels like home, and there was something just as familiar and easeful about that first boat hang / boat jamābefore there even was a band.
That jam turned into spontaneously inviting Jerett to play a gig with me (literally on my way to Bad Jimmyās)ā¦ without him ever hearing the songs first. Still one of my favorite things: Jerett improvising on a song heās hearing for the first time live on stage.
We all know Jerett slays on guitar, but what you might not know is how much heās been a doorway for me into healing, rebuilding trust, and stepping back on stage in a big way. When I am spiraling with self-doubt or losing my way (which is often), heās the one I call. Heās also the one who called

@dougindrick to join the band back in 2022. Looking back, I see how thoughtful he was in bringing the right people into my life at a time when I was feeling especially fragile. This band became a safety net, a place I can show myself as I truly amāno matter how tender.
Jerettās thumbprint is all over this albumānot just in the searing electric guitar youāll hear across the record, but in the fact that he insisted we record the band live in just two days š¤Æ. Three(ish) takes per song. No overthinking. Just showing ourselves as we are and keeping our HMM vibe intact. Two more days for vocals and that was a wrap (mostly). Honestly, I wouldnāt do it any other way. Such a huge accomplishment to have recorded this record in just four days - listening back, I am shocked we pulled it off!
So thank you Jerettānot just for shaping this record, but for shaping this band. I am honored to have you in my corner in life!
