Today is a big day for me. After 18 years as a photographer, I am self-publishing my first book! 
Photo Pass - 18 Years of Punk and Stuff This 250+ page book is a collection of my favorite music work from 2007 through 2025. Its the house shows and small stages through the arenas mega festivals. Its my friends punk band and the house hold names. Its my heart. For those who will ask, you’ll find never before seen photos of: New Found Glory, The Smoking Popes, blink 182, Rise Against, Paramore, Relient K, Bayside, MxPx, Fireworks, Slick Shoes, Zao, Thrice, Piebald, Real Friends, The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio, Motion City Soundtrack and more…

I don’t post a lot about design on here. Heck, I barely post anything these days. But this warranted a little shouting on the internet. Today, I have the honor and joy and privilege of announcing @jeredscott and my 5-year project: Photo Pass, The Photography of Jered Scott. (Eighteen Years of Punk And Stuff). It’s a 250+ page TOME of Jered’s incredible run as a music photographer in the punk scene. Full of a bunch of artists you know, a bunch you don’t, and many of the best photographs I’ve ever seen. (Which is good, considering how much time I spent staring at them.) It’s a strange mix of careful, consistent design—and absolute silliness. Of quiet moments (a few, at least), and moments that you can nearly hear (or smell). If you grew up with bands like Paramore, Red City Radio, MxPx, Green Day, Alexisonfire, Bayside, Real Friends, Rancid, The Smoking Popes, Relient K, Fireworks, My Chemical Romance, NoFX, The Wonder Years, Dogwood, blink 182, Slick Shoes, or New Found Glory, like I did…this book might take you somewhere. We hope it feels like a tight 45 minute punk set that you can leave on your coffee table. We also hope you like it. We know we do. Huge thanks to my dear friend @jeredscott for trusting me with not just the design of a huge chunk of his life’s work—but sharing the process of deciding and shaping what this book would be, sharing years of stories, sharing doubts and misgivings, genius takes and dumb ideas, and tolerating my borderline fixation with practical effects and old-school design practice. A few weeks back our team ventured out on its first assignment. The @lillianisaband fellas we kind enough to let us experiment with an idea, and @shredderslair.biz not only hosted but got creatively involved and making something really rad. Avtt/Pttn | Memorial Auditorium, Chattanooga, TN 2026 My first time seeing @theavettbrothers live was around 2006 at the House of Blues in Anaheim. My college buddy and I found tickets last minute to a band we had recently been turned onto, and watched this wild 4 pieces with about a thousand people. I took my dad to see them at a theater show out near Bakersfield with the venue feeling less that 50% sold. I couldn’t believe it. How were people missing out on this? My wife surprised me one year with tickets in downtown LA where the band played to thousands for over two hours. We all lost our voices that night. After moving to Chatt, I tried getting a photopass to Moon River, and it didn’t work out. So I showed up on Walnut Street bridge and shot a few snaps while I sang along with my new friend @cameronasa During the COVID years (of which we try not speak) @bonnaroo did some socially distanced pods and gave us back some normalcy. I got to sing and dance with my wife and some dear friends of ours. Two years ago my wife and I flew to Philly to see them do a one off with @cityandcolour_official cause we’re not idiots and no way we’d miss that. And last night, I was finally able to properly cross off the bucket list…photographing the Avett Brothers. What a rad and unique set they have put together. Different from anything I’ve seen from them by far, yet still 100% them. Thank you for the years and years, and thank you @tivolichatt for bringing them to our city again. I didn’t grow up in Southern California. So, my first time at Chain Reaction was when I was finishing up college nearby, and my room-mates band was playing there. All of these posts sharing stories about Chain sent me digging into my hard drives, and realizing that this venue was a larger part of my story than I realized. Its sort of where I cut my teeth. Some of the earliest shows I shot were here. Its where I started trying to figure out shooting with flash, shooting with minimal or shitty lighting. Not having all the trappings of a big venue like photo pits and security and lighting rigs. This place was small, and challenging, and again, looking back through old photos I don’t have much work I’m particularly proud of from here. But I shot some rad bands like Sever Your Ties and an early itteration of @phinehasband 
I shot @thealmostofficial and @bryceavary and early @tumbledown shows. And more than 10 years into their career, I shot @mxpxpx ’s first show at Chain. I saw a ton of shows with best friends like @andylikeswords , hell I even watched @newfoundglory with Gary Busey. I know this place means a lot to our community and it’s sad to see it go.
