Ever wanted to hear djent...For STRINGS?? 🔥 🎶 The JACK Quartet (@jackquartet ) absolutely crushed their reading of my piece, Overdrive. This piece is particularly meaningful to me as it was one of my first forays into writing metal fusion work. This piece has got something for everybody though. 😈 Check out the full video on YouTube, or my website (link in bio)! #metalheadsofInstagram #metalheadstyle #metalheadcommunity #metalheadsunite #tenor #classicalcomposer #prog #djent #djentlemen #operasingersofinstagram #composersofinstagram #singersofinstagram #classicalmusic #opera #operacommunity #operasingers #songwritersofinstagram #stringquartet #jackquartet #jackstudio #newclassical #stringmusic #blacksongwriters #blackentertainment

Here are clips from movements I and II of my latest, Scene Symphony! This symphony was inspired by pop-punk music, Tchaikovsky, and as always, my love of prog metal. I'm really proud of this work, and of the INCREDIBLE performance @thesfco gives here. You can read more about the piece and access the perusal score from my website (link in bio!). Now, who wants to hear them play the other two movements... 👀 #stringmetal #symphonicmetal #modernclassicalmusic #acousticpoppunk #progmetal

Highlights from Seeing Double! @jens.ibsen wrote us a commission that was a delicious combination of lush, lyrical, toe-tapping and fun - we loved premiering “Scene Symphony.” Jory Vinikour brought dazzling virtuosity to the Philip Glass concerto every single time. Add in the passionate excitement of Haydn’s 49th symphony and it was a set of concerts to remember. Full houses for all three shows and a very special mingle with the artists for our Maestro Circle members. And Winston, our backstage dog, of course. One last set of SFCO MainStage concerts for the season coming your way in just a few weeks (5/1,2,3) - save your seats now! thesfco.org

Haven't done a photo dump in a long while! Here are highlights from my trip to the Hi-desert this week: 1) Abigail and I cheesing because of ALL THE BIRDS at Big Morongo 2) Local are in Joshua Tree (we did, in fact, meet the person behind the Hi-desert Chicken Experience, they are very cool) 3) Our lovely host Giorgia's cat, Bruno, secretly a princeling in a feline body 4) We saw a goddamn Gila Monster. They are underground 98% of the year. Highlight of my entire life. 5) Gio fitting in 6) More of Rattlesnake Canyon 7) Frogs!! The water from the recent rains had not yet dried up and the various critters within it hadn't, either. 8) Me explaining karate, presumably 9) Abigail and Gio, iconic 10) Insane sunsets out there. 11) Also insane bathrooms, apparently 13) Meeting local celebrities 14-18) Highlights from Joshua Tree #hi-desert #joshuatrees #bigmorongocanyonpreserve #desertbirding #metalheadstyle

Audiences are raving about the SFCO. Come hear for yourself (for free)! 2/27 in San Francisco 2/28 in Palo Alto 3/1 in Berkeley Featuring harpsichord rockstar, Jory Vinikour, the premiere of Jens Ibsen’s metal-inspired “Scene Symphony” and Haydn’s “La Passione” symphony. Free RSVP at thesfco.org These concerts are sponsored by Leon and Karen Traister Jory Fankuchen, Music Director PROGRAM: Jens Ibsen - Scene Symphony SFCO Commission with support from the NEA Philip Glass - Concerto for Harpsichord and Orchestra Jory Vinikour, harpsichord Franz Joseph Haydn - Symphony No. 49 “La Passione” Internationally acclaimed harpsichordist Jory Vinikour makes his San Francisco Chamber Orchestra debut under the baton of Music Director Jory Fankuchen in Philip Glass’ mesmerizing Concerto for Harpsichord and Orchestra. Mr. Vinikour brings his commanding musicianship and effortless technique to Glass’ homage to the Baroque. In another nod to the pre-Classical style, Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 49, La Passione, fuses Baroque sound and form with the dramatic Sturm and Drang movement of the 18th century in a fiery and tumultuous work. Our program opens with Scene Symphony, an SFCO commission by the brilliant young composer Jens Ibsen. @jens.ibsen @jvinikour @philipglass
