Conductor, composer and educator Michael Tilson Thomas, who led the @sfsymphony for 25 years, establishing its reputation as a world-class orchestra, died last Wednesday. He was 81 years old.

Michael Tilson Thomas, MTT, the legendary conductor of the San Francisco Symphony, passed away last month. We’re revisiting this conversation I had with him in San Francisco in 2018. He talks about the moment his career began, suddenly conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra with no warning, and the earlier moment in junior high when he stood up and announced, long before it was true, that he was a conductor.
