Veronica and I attended the very first Spring Ascension show by Nu Wave Studio today and honestly? First shows are brave. 💪💪
You could feel a new creative team finding their footing, experimenting, learning in real time, and building something from the ground up : and there’s something really special about witnessing that beginning stage.
There was a solid variety of designers throughout the show, and a few standout favorites for me, including the always compelling work of Sierra Rockett. So many interesting textures, concepts, and moments that reminded me why I love Portland’s fashion community in the first place. Please pm me for tags and credits and I’ll add.
Every strong creative platform starts somewhere, and it’s exciting to see new producers stepping into the scene and making space for artists to be seen. 🖤

It was truly amazing to work with a variety of professional women who modeled for the show who were brought out of their comfort zones and placed on the runway- pure magic ensued. I’m lucky enough to have fun at work while making a DIFFERENCE. 👊🏼🫶🏼😊

If you’re a survivor, know that I think about your struggle regularly. I wonder how you’re surviving yet again as predators rule the internet.
I wonder how you’re getting through your day if you’re informed and if there’s any hacks you use.
I have an hour timer on my Instagram and other platforms. If I’ve spent more than that in a day collectively I ask myself if I really need to be there and go do something else.
But I feel the need to be a witness to know what’s going on and stand in solidarity of my sisters and brothers. This hurts. Sometimes with more intensity than I can bear- then I reset. It is necessary work for me on my journey. I’ve found a lot of self care is necessary for me to be a better version of myself and model for my kids.
If you’re a survivor barely surviving in some ways but also effin’ thriving- I see you and I’m holding space for you every day. 🫶🏼👊🏼🫶🏼
