From sunset to sunrise, the performance unfolds as a shifting landscape where the dramatized and the real are interwoven, transforming Rialto into a site of continuous mutation, through a counterpoint of actions, voices, and images. SESSIONS x SPEL : A movie of queer happenings 💜 This film was created in December 2023 at the State gallery of contemporary art @spelstategallery in Nicosia as a part of @sesssssions . The footage was captured by the audience over six months of Sessions x SPEL and the music was recorded in an 8hour open improvisation while I edited the film live. 💜 Thank you @dimitrischimonas and @lexistenceispain for trusting me with this project and for creating a space for the queers to express, experience and expand. So. We are back, and ready to begin our official season 4 with a really moving original short film from our friend @jellow_m (Angelos Charalambous). The film is entitled "ERMA", and deals with the dark and urgent feelings that surround gender dyphoria. The synopsis reads: “Erma, neutral: The principles or motives which guide behaviour and actions.  A film about gender and the body, and all of the interwoven moments that are found in their midst. The perpetual process and struggle of forming a gendered subjectivity against the repressive notions of heteronormativity is explored through an abstract narrative viewpoint and techniques found in stop-motion animation and body horror genre. From birth till death, the glitch in the code of patriarchy submits and resists, emerges through but is also confined by the "ghosts" of social discourse. With the use of heavy religious symbolism and an ironic and challenging attitude; "ERMA" highlights the contradictions of gender construction, both in the fields of solitary subjectivity as well as in relation to the dominant heteronormative narrative.
