For quite a long time I have been contemplating leaving Facebook and Facebook owner properties. It has in so many areas become a dumpster fire of the worst of human interactions and a petri dish for the spread of misinformation.
While I have always tried to be a voice of reason, hoping to steer conversations toward kindness and thoughtfulness, I'm no longer willing to contribute to Facebook or Facebook-owned properties. I will not be giving this pace any more of my content.
For business reasons, like the monitoring of a few business Facebook groups, I am unable to delete my account there and still fulfill my responsibilities. Facebook has become a hub for too many things. But I have already changed my account settings and all previous posts there are no longer public. Only my family will be able to see certain details.
I am fully aware that this may seem like a strange or drastic move in the midst of a global pandemic, but I have a great deal of faith in the strength of the relationships I've built. If you know me, you know me.
