Summer 2023! June 16th, 20:50 to be exact. The boys had no idea what they were getting into. It was their first real big show. This is all part of the grooming process. Cliff Burton’s sister, @connie.burton walked up to Lucas in the snake pit and explained to Lucas who she was and gave him a @cliffburtonfamily pin. Lucas had no idea who this crazy lady was. Congrats to The Goat! @kellyslater This pic was taken 2004 on @indiestrader boat during the first Young Guns trip. Pic shot by the world famous @snp5000 Fun fact, Quiksilver hired a helicopter with pilot to be on standby the whole time to be able to shoot the “drone” angle. I think the budget for the 10 day boat trip was around $125,000. @stridersworld will know the budget spent. I would say this was the peak of the surf industry. #kellyslater

Another frame from the same moment as my last post. I have to be honest, it’s hard to find the right mood to post these images. I have to be in the right mindset. I set a New Years resolution to post pics 20 years ago to the day.
These shots have been sitting quietly on my hard drive all this time… and it feels damn good to finally share them.
I hope they spark something- a feeling, a memory, a flash back to the golden days of surfing.
When it was raw.
When it was punk rock.
When it was pushing forward.
Andy was all of that.

April 2nd 2006, 20 years ago. Same morning session from the previous post. The action shots should speak for themselves. Each wave photographed has about 10-20 shot sequences but I chose the best shot out of the sequence to tighten the edit. I don’t feel like editing or stitching the sequences together. I will post pics from the evening session tomorrow or the next day. Andy and Rob showed up for the evening light. It was a long day on the hot sand. Snips, Brother, and Hank surfed their brains out all day. Hank surfed so good, he was amped on the conditions. Hank was a very underrated surfer. @hippiehanahank@mikeparsons1@koloheandino
April 2nd, 2006- twenty years ago today. I’m going to split up these posts because there was a lot going on this day. Lots of action and good vibes. This was one of “Brother’s”(I like calling him Brother still, because he’s a big grom) first big surf trips and his first to the Mexican sand point. The photos speak for themselves. This was my first trip shooting 100% digital with no film. These are shot with Canon EOS-1D Mark 2 (1.3 crop) and 600mm F/4 L IS. I think the last slide is OG Caesar from the surf camp but I can’t remember his last name. Please tag him in the comments. Enjoy.
April 1st, 2006, 20 years ago today I went on a strike mission to Barra De La Cruz with @patchy_o and @hippiehanahank - I later met up with Brother, Dino, Snips, AI, and Machado. I will post pics tomorrow on our second day of the trip. I had just got my first digital camera to shoot from land, Canon EOS Mark 2. These airport pics are shot with a Canon 5D. I was also playing around with a plastic 1st version @lensbabyusa
