Now based Ireland, Phil Robson is best known in Europe for his work with the cult UK band ‘Partisans’ which he co-led with saxophonist Julian Siegel over 22 years, as well as performing with his partner, the great singer/songwriter Christine Tobin. He has led many projects featuring such legendary artists as Dave Liebman, Mark Turner, Billy Hart, James Genus etc and he has played with a huge array of internationally acclaimed musicians ranging from Kenny Wheeler, Donny McCaslin, Django Bates to Barbra Streisand.
US saxophonist and composer Jed Levy has had his compositions performed and recorded by such luminaries as Mike Clark, Charlie Hunter, The Headhunters, Eddie Henderson etc. Jed has also performed and/or recorded with a wide variety of jazz music’s finest, including: Jaki Byard, Don Patterson, Jack McDuff, Lonnie Smith, Attila Zollar, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, Junior Mance, Cedar Walton, Tom Harrell, Curtis Fuller and many others. /

Award-winning UK-born guitarist Phil Robson’s @philrobsonguitar fluent and creative playing was first recognised as something special in the 90’s. His band ‘Partisans’, co-led with saxophonist Julian Siegel become a seminal influence on the UK and European contemporary scene for over 20 years and he’s also known for his work with acclaimed singer/songwriter Christine Tobin, David Liebman, Mark Turner, Billy Hart, Marc Copland & many more.
Based in New York from 2015-2020, Phil struck up a musical partnership with acclaimed US saxophonist Jed Levy @jedlevy . Jed’s compositions have been performed and recorded by such luminaries as Mike Clark, Charlie Hunter, The Headhunters and Eddie Henderson, while keeping a busy schedule as a sideman working with Jaki Byard, Lonnie Smith, Cedar Walton and Tom Harrell.
They soon became a regular feature in the city’s iconic venues such as Smalls, Birdland, 55 Bar and the rest, as well as touring in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland and California. Their debut album, ‘The Unpredictability of the Sea’ (@livia_records_label ) features new compositions written by Robson and Levy, described as “innovative and contemporary whilst remaining highly melodic and groovy”. Joined by Dave Whitford on bass and Shane O’Donovan on drums, this performance will be the first time listeners can hear this music live and is their only London date!

In addition to the reunion with Paolo, it was great to play with my pal Dado Moroni. We first met while he was living in NYC in the 90s and have continued our friendship and musical relationship ever since. To me, he is one of the greatest pianists anywhere in the world and beyond that, a gentleman and friend of the highest order.

#RamponeSaxophoneFactory in Quarna,IT. Again many thanks to my old friend drummer Paolo Pelegatti who organized this tour for us. It had been 45 years since we had played or seen each other since we were students in Boston. The 2nd picture is Paolo's recital at Berklee College of Music. Many thanks to the venues in Vicenza, Verona, Ferrara and Quarna that hosted us.
Our Album Launch tour begins on 11th May @cranelanetheatre , Cork and we can't wait to play in that great city. 2 sets starting 9pm. Entry is free. Albums will be available!

Our last concert of the Italian tour was at the factory where Rampone saxophones are made.
This is in the beautiful mountain town of Quarna. Claudio Rampone, the man in charge of this amazing operation, was gracious enough to show me around the factory the next morning and I was really amazed. The best part was getting to try out a few different models of their fantastic line of saxophones, which were all excellent! The variation between .models and 5 different possible necks make the horns uniquely compatible with a wide variety of players taste. I found the horns very easy to play and not a difficult switch from my Selmer Mk6, but with their unique personality. A truly fantastic experience, thanks and bravo Claudio!
