Enjoy an evening of gorgeously memorable jazz tunes inventively performed by the Pat McCarthy Trio with vocalist Shannon Reilly. Be quick – a few tickets remaining for West Bridgford Library 15th & Beeston Library 13th! (And, sorry, but sold out at Worksop.) Get your tickets direct at the Library reception or ring Inspire on 01623 677 200 to book tickets over the phone. Or book e-tickets online via the website link on the jazzsteps.co.uk website. Pat McCarthy has played with some of the UK’s top musicians including Alan Barnes, Tina May, Gilad Atzmon, George Melly and Digby Fairweather. Singing since the age of five Shannon grew up listening to the likes of Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Although she developed her style listening to these iconic singers, she is very much her own vocalist. Completing the quartet is multi-instrumentalist, Thom Whitworth on trumpet (and guitar). Lush ballads, lilting bossa novas, motoring bop and swinging standards - as featured on the band’s latest album Ballads and Bossas. Don’t miss this vibrant tribute to master saxophonist Stan Getz from this cracking band featuring James Allsopp sax, Colin Oxley guitar, Oli Hayhurst double bass and Dave Storey drums Stan Getz is probably best known for his stunning album Getz/Gilberto that brought to prominence bossa nova and the classic song “Girl from Ipanema” and for his signature sax sound. But he enjoyed a career spanning decades and jazz genres, taking in both bebop and cool jazz. This wonderful gig features music from the band’s brand new album Ballads and Bossas. It explores Stan’s varied musical legacy, interpreting the music respectfully but not reverentially, allowing it to breathe and feel natural for our time. It’s Allsopp’s salute to one of his all-time saxophone heroes - Stan Getz. Over his 20-year career, James Allsop has played with legendary artists such as The Last Poets, David Axelrod, Dr John, and Mulatu Astake, and for European jazz luminaries such as Django Bates, Nostalgia 77, Kit Downes, and Polar Bear. He has also featured on more commercial albums by Jamie Cullum and Jorja Smith. His debut album was nominated for a BBC Jazz Award for Best Album 2007, and he is a professor of saxophone and clarinet at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Listen to the beautiful ballad A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square on YouTube. “Allsopp is an astonishingly fluent tenor sax soloist, the ideas just seem to flow effortlessly” - The Jazz Mann Book now for a memorable evening saluting a jazz great with a fresh take on some classic tunes.. #thebonington #jazz #livemusic #jazzsteps #jazzstepsnottingham #Arnold #liveband #gig #livegig #livejazz #Jazzsteps97 #JazzSteps #JazzInNottingham #WhatsOnNottingham #jazzmusic #jazzconcert #musician #band #livemusic #guitar #jazzquartet #bass #sax #drums #Getz #StanGetz
