Daydream 2026 옻지 위 먹과 옥분,금분 ; pearl powder, gold powder with mukk on ottji (Korean racquer paper) 40 x 40 cm Daydream is a body of work in which fragments of emotions, memories, and thoughts that pass through everyday life are repeatedly recorded through text. The words on the surface function both as readable language and as visual images. From a distance, they appear as abstract pattern, while up close, they emerge as traces that evoke personal memories. I present new possibilities for contemporary art through traditional Korean materials such as Hanji (Korean traditional material), ottchil lacquer, Mukk (traditional coloured ink), pearl powder, and mineral pigments. Rather than understanding tradition as a fixed form, Jeah Hyuck approaches it as something that continues to change through the senses of the present. Through text, layering, and repetitive gestures, he visualises the emotions and identities of individuals living within contemporary society. Viewers are invited to discover their own memories and emotions within the works, recalling forgotten feelings through an aesthetic of sublimity and New-tradition. #Daydream #abstractpainting #contemporarypainting

Jeah Hyuck Daydream 념상 2026 옻지 위 먹과 옥분,금분 ; pearl powder, gold powder with mukk on ottji (Korean paper) 나는 현대사회의 흐름 속에서 발생하는 수 많은 관념과 정보의 흔적들을 관찰자의 시선으로 포착한다. 일상 속을 스쳐 지나가는 생각과 감정, 언어의 파편들을 화면 위에 쌓아가며, 이를 하나의 이미지로 구축한다. 관객들은 내 작업을 보며 수 많은 단어 속에서 각자의 경험과 기억, 성향에 따라 서로 다른 단어와 이미지를 발견하게 되며 또 다른 하나의 관찰자가 된다. 이는 정보가 개인의 기질에 따라 선택적으로 수용된다는 사실을 드러내고, 개인이 사회 속에 동화되고 변화해가는지에 대한 담론을 제기한다. 이러한 흐름은 ‘변화하는 전통성’의 개념으로 확장된다. 한국화는 화가의 시선과 의중을 담아 사회를 포착하고 기록하는 풍속화나 수묵화를 그려왔다. 나는 이 전통미술의 포착과 기록이라는 의미를 현대미술의 시선으로 재해석하여, 포착이라는 나만의 방식으로 확장한다. 나의 작업은 석채, 먹, 한지, 옥분과 같은 전통 재료들과 현대 미술 속에서 변화된 새로운 부감법; ’물리적 시점의 부감이 아닌, 정보와 감정, 기억이 중첩된 층위를 내려다보는 시선으로서 사회를 바라보고 포착한다.’ 이자, 동시대의 미술속에서 재해석한 풍속화라 할 수 있다. 이를 통해 나는 전통의 의미를 현대 미술 속에서 재기하고, 개인과 사회의 끊임없는 긴장감을 시각화 한다. #abstractpainting #contemporaryart #aesthetic

Light with hanji reveals something different. The layered mulberry paper lays subtly transparent, and layers of words remain visible within it. In Mapping, fleeting fragments of contemporary life and personal reflection converge. By observing random interactions between the ordinary and the symbolic, the artist captures the subtle flow of society and repositions tradition within a modern visual language.
