Presenting Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me: A Short Dance Film.
Last fall after I saw Lawrence open for the Jonas Brothers at Yankee Stadium, I found myself dancing to this song every night around dinner time. I immediately felt a story here and knew I wanted to make another dance film. I got connected with John and we started working in the studio. About 1 year, 2 filming days, and many hours of editing later, we are so excited to present this short dance film with you. Stay tuned to the end to see some of my favorite MOVIE MAGIC ever! @maxwellbagnis is a genius.
We encourage you all to cuddle up and enjoy a day of doing nothing this weekend with someone or something you love!đ

Bit of a throwback on this one⌠last year I produced a short film called TRAPPED with director Cameron Hersly (@camhersly ) alongside an amazing cast and crew, and with the support and guidance of the Jacob Burns Film Center @jbfc_pville and NYU Tisch (we shot it in one day!)
Now, after a premiere at the Jacob Burns Theatre, the film is finally out for all to see on YouTube! The link to watch is in my bio.
Iâd highly encourage you to follow everyone involved in the cast and crew and check out the other incredible stories theyâre telling! For my part, I loved getting to produce this story from an idea to a finished product, and I'm thrilled to now share it with you all, on behalf of this whole team.
ARTSWRKER SPOTLIGHT âď¸
John Reed @jdreeed is an American-Australian actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, teacher and Mexican food enthusiast! Born in Houston, Texas, John relocated to Melbourne, Australia in 2004 and studied all facets of dance, singing and acting at the May Downs School of Dancing and Centrestage Performing Arts School @maydownsperformingarts .
He went on to graduate from the Ballarat Arts Academy in 2015 with a BA in Music Theatre.
While treading the boards in such musicals as A Chorus Line, Fiddler On The Roof, 42nd Street, West Side Story on Sydney Harbour (where he understudied and performed the role of Riff), Funny Girl, Merrily We Roll Along, and Jesus Christ Superstar, John has also donned a doublet performing in over ten Shakespeare plays, including A Midsummer Nightâs Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet and King Lear.
He loves performing in period pieces on screen and will eat up Aaron Sorkin dialogue any day of the week!
John has also been teaching since the age of 19 at dance studios, high schools and universities, all sharing his love and passion for the performing arts to the next generation.
⨠Hereâs what John had to say about shattering the âstarving artistâ stigma:
âI believe it is essential to shatter the starving artist stigma because it perpetuates the idea that an artistâs work is not worth the compensation required for basic needs. What we do is a legitimate profession and should be treated as such. It is paramount for artists to believe that our workâwhich is vulnerable, uncertain, and beautifulâshould not only be compensated but celebrated.â

Directorâs Passion For Sondheim Shows In Zoeticâs âMerrily We Roll Alongâ
By Aaron Krause, Theater Critic
In Zoetic Stage Companyâs vivacious production of âMerrily We Roll Along,â we witness characters celebrating with a high five and a hip bump. We may wish to join them as they energetically sing about a hopeful future filled with endless possibilities in the infectiously upbeat closing number, âOur Time.â
But as optimistic as it seems, a hint of unease lingers. Since the play is constructed backwards, we already know their later years will not be exactly rosy. Just before Franklin Shepherd walks confidently into that future after a moment of hesitation, we may find ourselves wishing to stall him a little longer.
